Think I'll mount the Magic track Pad to my Guitar

DO IT!  I got close to mounting an iphone on my guitar, but now I've moved to using a gooseneck based iphone holder instead so that I can point the screen up toward my face to see it (rather than having it more or less perpendicular with the face of the guitar, where the angle between the screen and my eyes makes it very difficult to operate).  This need to see what you are doing is a non-issue for the track pad.  Go man go!

I may just place Magic Pad on a nearby mic stand!
Next to my Theramin!

. . . the future ain't what it used to be . . .

Great idea!!! Do test for RF interferance from Theramin though. The trackpad will use BlueTooth which might catch a cold from the other emitters nearby.

here is something that might be interesting.  i have one to put on the next guitar i build for myself.
there is allot more on you tube but here is a good place to start

it is a remote xy midi controller pad adapted to control a korg kaoss pad remotely (guitar etc). it is a small operation in utah and the owner puts out a nice kit and instructions.  easily retro fitted and smaller or bigger touch pads can be used.  i would like to see if this can be wired to somehow control roland, axon etc through a 13 pin cable.  i wrote several emails back and forth to james cherry the kit producer trying to convince him to figure out how to sent the the midi control messages through the unused wire in the 13 pin cable and maybe share another wire if necessary and he would have a much more successful product.  the kaoss pad is a cool unit---i have one, but it would be for those wild gigs and for having fun in the studio,  it was really designed for disc jockies.  i'm sure if he heard that from more people he would see the light and hit a bigger market with guitar players..

Q... What kind of advice can you give me ?   Tommy Emmanuel's reply ....

You move your hand Up and Down that long bit and the music comes out of that Big Black Box behind you !!

That Track Pad is a brilliant tool! I rarely ever use my mouse now. I remember reading this post and thinking that mounting one would be a brilliant idea...

zummooz,  the kit has been upgraded.  130 without touch screen.  according to the website he has only sold 36 kits, i think i was number 15, but they are now programmable to work with other midi gear.  still nothing directly through the 13 pin cable.  for something simple to put an xy pad on your guitar (ie combine a couple of swell pedals) this might be fun---i have one so i will try it.  here is a link.  http://twocherriesinstruments.ecrater.com/p/10177984/kaoss-pad-guitar-midi-controller.

sometimes less is more.  i find when i buy a very complex, feature loaded piece of kit i generally find only a small part of what it is capable of works well for me.  at gigs, simpler is better.

that said, i like to experiment when i have time to "play" weird and wild adds to the fun and find the ipad idea very interesting.  could someone explain how this interface would work to communicate with vg or gr or axon gear for example?  would it also be able to work as a simple 2 axis midi controller without too much complicated interface (ie a laptop in between)?  what are you seeing as the possibilities for uses on a guitar, especially gig applications?
