"Shoes sold at stores will not make music when bent or twisted"  I like that quote.....

The cool thing is: the same devices that convert these twist and bend sensors to MIDI are ones that we could use with guitars, or pedals, or whatever!

One concept that I experimented a little bit with a few years ago was a guitar strap which sensed downward pressure - so as you jump around stage, or simply pushed your guitar neck down a little bit, you would change the pressure on your guitar strap, sending a MIDI signal.

Devices such as the Builder box (http://www.lividinstruments.com/hardware_builder.php) allow most anything to be turned into a MIDI controller.

Really what you need to do is just decide what you want to measure (pressure, light, bending, temperature, etc) and pick the controller you want:

Click, click and some programming: and you find yourself rocking back and forth on your heels, controlling the filter frequency of the EQ you are soling through ;-)

Well, OK, it's not QUITE that simple...but it's simpler than you might think.  It's a golden age for alternative controller experimentation right now, us guitarists should be right there in the middle of this booming growth;  We already have an instrument which often needs to be connected via wire to a stationary device (an amp), we have electricity near us (for our amps and effects), and, most importantly, our hands are full (we are playing guitar, after all!) so it strikes me that we are prime candidates for controllers which don't occupy our hands!

OMG!!! There truly is no limit! :o ::) ;)

Well, I still need a pair of Midi enabled boxer shorts. Sit on the right cheek for Patch up, left cheek for Patch down, Jiggle for hmm, perhaps some modulation effects. Oh well. I'm sure it'll be a hoot!

Hi MCK,

Just when I think the limits have been reached...I'm, sure glad I'd already swallowed that mouthful of wine (but how do I get off the floor with my guts split from laughing so hard?)!!!

One thing's for sure...we'll never get bored, or run out of inspiration and/or mirth, on FGN!!! :o :D

Well, we could put an accelerometer in your trousers...but I don't know how you'd explain it going through airport security.....

Vance, I imagine there would be a sizable  market for an "exciter" plug in too.
