Elantric,

OMG! Thank you for that post; we do indeed live in a whole new world of possibilities!

Question: Do you *ever* sleep? No normal mortal has the time to devote to the (job) work you do, then experiment with, utilize, and communicate, this much research and the knowledge gained from it. I, for one, am most grateful and respectful!

So...besides being an over-driven, immensely-talented, genius...what's your secret? ;) ;D

Fun app. Reminds me of Microsoft Songsmith. Not that it is remotely similar. It just reminds me of it for some reason.

Just started using one called prochords. It's actually piano based, but it's a nice song writing tool as it quickly allows you to play around with some chord progressions and get them sounding nice before starting to play. I'm forever getting little tunes popping in to my head which seem to have evaporated by the time I can get to a guitar. This is a way that I have found to get around it and save the song.

I have also just downloaded the peterson tuner that a lot of you use and am now waiting for the lead to arrive.

If you find a cure for GAS let me know!!!!!

Hi Welshman, I think you will be pleased with how good the Peterson s/w is on iPhone even with the built-in microphone. Give it a whirl.

Hi MCK,
yes, I've tried it and was impressed - nice to have the background noise filter in there as well - £10 buys quite a lot of app!

Just came off the phone from one of the lead stockists - they wanted £9.99 for the lead and then £10 for shipping! Even the guy on the phone thought it was ludicrous! Looking for another stockist!

MCK-fgn

Ouch. Its just another microphone right? Or is it a cable which lets you plug your guitar into the iPhone for tuning purposes?

Hi MCK,
it's a lead that allows you to plug an electric guitar in to the iphone

There is another version that is only a microphone, but it's the ability to plug an electric guitar in to the iphone that attracts me.

The PRS GuitarBud cable does all this and more versatile.

The guitarbud is twice the price of the Peterson, but it DOES allow you to plug headphones in so that you can use an amp app and play through your iphone - it also has the advantage of being more readily available in the UK - I have only managed to find the one stockist for the Peterson so far.

Amplitube on the iPhone!

I can't wait until there's a 13-pin input for the iPod emulated VG99 or GR300!

Sure beats carrying around 150 pounds of gear but just wait until your gig is interrupted by a telephone call!
Dumb ringtones thru the PA startling the audience!

Here's another one I picked up... I recall earlier discussions about sound level enforcement in some clubs...

SPL   Meter for iPad

This one seems to do a decent enough job. Probably not as accurate as dedicated devices but hey... There is a version for the iPhone as well.

"Android Now Running On iPhone 3G

After just a couple more weeks of work, we've made tremendous progress and brought Android  to the iPhone 3G. Although this port is slightly more rough than the previous Android on first-generation iPhone port, this marks an important milestone for the more DIY-minded owners of the millions of iPhone 3G devices that are out there.

Google's Android OS now running on the iPhone 3G.Now you can use the Android OS to browse the web and run any application that does not require audio support, as well as send and receive SMS text messages over the cell phone radio.

If you want to try it yourself, you'll have your chance in a couple of days when the packaged binaries and instructions for the 3G are posted.

Hi,

tcelectronic are giving away free ;D the first 25000 Polytune iPhone Apps. after that it's $9.99

As it is a direct port of the Polytune it works the same as far as my limited comparison with the actual unit goes. Given the Polytune is $99 or a $169 here in Australia $0 is a good deal.

I suggest downloading NOW before the 25000 free are all gone.

Just downloaded the free version - so far, I much prefer it to the PRS amp - you just have to be careful what you click or you end up paying for extra effects!
PS, I was too late on the Polytune and had to buy it (only £5 though). Works every but as well as the pedal, so worth every penny.

Got the iRig and iPhone version of the AmpliTube running and was quite pleased with it. One day later the iPad version is released. Its quite amazing. The best travel package ever.
