So - Those who notice such things may have noted that we've opened up the Moog Forum again.  I had initially intended to start the discussion going here when I got hold of the Paul Vo version of the Moog guitar.  Though I have played that model of the Moog quite a number of times,  saving up to buy one was going to take a little time.  Lo and Behold - Moog announces the E1 right around Summer NAMM time, and this time, I can jump right away.

So I have one on order - It should be arriving pretty soon (is that the UPS guy at the door??!?!).  When it arrives I'll be documenting my first (and second and third) impressions of it.
I plan to discuss the general guitar build quality, the special multi-string sustain/mute system, how it compares (or doesn't compare) to other sustain systems (the Moog system is really much more than just a sustain system), the internal electronics, as well as integrating the E1 with hex guitar processing such as the Roland VG-99 and the StringPort (http://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/stringport/).  The Moog/StringPort combination is especially appealing to me as I am interested in experimenting with processing and synthesis methods which do not utilize pitch to MIDI conversion and the StringPort (like the DarkFire) allows each string of the guitar to be routed into a computer for later processing.  The combination of this and the Moog sustain/mute pickups should prove to be an exceptionally powerful combination.

Until Soon!

It arrived!  Blond Moog E1 with Tremolo.  I spend all (ALL) last night playing and experimenting with the thing.  Real reports to follow (I should have recorded some video while I experimented last night).

Overall the instrument looks and plays quite nice, finish looks great, no dead spots on the neck - standard guitar stuff all checks out. But the magic really starts happening when you utilize the sustain and muting systems.

OK - For the moment I have to run: more to follow as soon as I can.
