Hi,

I've got a small question. I want to start playing with a sampler (like a Jamman or Rc20 for example). I know that Guitar Rig proposes that, but then I'll need to get the Rig Controller to be able to use that.

Do you know what is the best option between a specific effect pedal or buying the Rig Controller and use it with Guitar Rig ?

Thanks !

Get a Behringer FCB-1010 + a USB MIDI Interface
. . . the future ain't what it used to be . . .

So with that you manage Guitar Rig directly I believe. Why do you find this better than the rig controller ?

#3
Twice the buttons, and 2 built in pedals for vol / wah

and 50% cheaper.

Free UNO Firmware update adds features to make the FCB-1010 a worthy foot controller.

You already have the Audio interface with RIP - Rig Kontrol bulk cost is for a redundant Audio Interface you dont need.

Also the Rig Kontrol is a one trick pony - it doe not transmit MIDI and can not be used with any other software but NI GR3.

And the additional Audio drivers etc that the Rig Kontrol would put on your PC that you will not need. Although I must admit the plug & away you go side of Rig Kontrol vs go get a PHD in Midi-Mind-Mapping first with FCB-1010 is something to be considered. If you're not up to the initial learning curve then you might want to consider the Rig Kontrol anyways.

PS. I did end up buying a JamMan too. Much simpler for daily noodling around and capturing small jam sessions etc. Why JamMan over other dedicated loopers? USB interface to PC, CF for storage, easy to upgrade, instrument or mic input. Important if you want to capture miked guitar amps etc. No single silver bullet for me I'm afraid.

thanks for your answers. MCK, you talk about the learning curve of midi configuration. Is it that hard ?

Maybe I'll end up buying the jamman *and* the Beringher :)

MCK-fgn

Its not that hard actually. Usually the initial configuration and getting the thing to talk to GR3 seems to take the most time for most beginners. Usually the issues are related to the variabilities on each PC, midi controllers etc. Once you get one single pedal or expression controller to be recognized the rest is easy and simple repetetive work.

I also find that I keep going back and changing my pedal to action appointments. This is due to my lack of real life experience. Fun but at times tedious.

Thanks MCK. I believe that as soon as I receive my DF I'll go for the beringher :)

You can actually get it now and get the trial for GR3 and start working on it. Just an idea. Keeps you busy too. Idle minds tend to go ...

Great prices out there on that Behringer...

I'd been thinking of just programming some keys on a keyboard or using my GT-8, which has nice MIDI controller programmability.   Problem is, I don't want accidental patch changes, so it would be nice to have a dedicated controller - even if it only has a few controls just to switch among my 5-6 favorite GR3 settings...

Now I'm considering that Behringer...
