Hello fellas.  Well, I'm trying to setup my MIDX-20 to talk to my Kemper Profiler.  I have a mono loop in Stomp A and I'm trying to use an expression pedal to adjust the mix of the loop (from 0 to maybe 70 or 80% wet).  At the same time, I'd also like to add a bit of volume swell to the overall volume level POST Stack.  I could do this easily using the morphing feature, but I'm already using that for something else.

I was hoping it would be relatively easy to just take the expression pedal and map it to these parameters in the Kemper, but for the life of me, I don't see how to do it.  I did manage to update the firmware to V2.3 after many tries.  I kept getting memory errors but I finally made it all the way through.

Thanks in advance for any help!

As always,  use a third party MIDI monitor app to debug

Here are the steps and procedure

To be honest, I don't recall the MIDX-20 having a "Kemper" mode -but should be possible after verification of what MIDI CC# emerges on MIDI Out 5 pin when an Expression pedal is connected

Fwiw. The MeloAudio MIDI Commander (same as Thomann Harley-Benton MP-100) does have a Kemper control mode

I'd probably update the Kemper to its latest fw. Which is 8.6.x and will be your best bet functionality wise versus 8year old fw.

The reason for problem with firmware updates always comes from a USB to MIDI converter not good enough for long SysEx messages. Roland UM One MKII is recommended' but others work too.

When connecting an expression pedal to the MIDX-20 you can have it send any CC# you want. It is also possible to duplicate the CC# messages to another CC# message. Use the PC-Assistant software and read the manual. http://primovasound.com/pdf/MIDX20_Assistant.pdf
See page 6 for setting up a CC#
and page 12-13 for translation/operations.
The checkbox "Keep original data" on page 13 can be used to send pedal message to two different CC#., the original (From CC) plus the redirected CC (to CC). "Point of operation" should be "MIDI OUT" or "USB LWR OUT" depending on how the Kemper is connected.

I don't have a Kemper and have no experience of it. Normally I use BOME SendSX free tool to see what's sent on MIDI OUT.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!
