Apologies if this has already been posted (or is in the wrong section)...

This brings back memories of the old Zoom 9001:

https://www.boss.info/uk/products/pocket-gt/

I'm feeling my GAS playing up.

Edit: Here's the (Japanese) parameter list: https://www.boss.info/jp/support/by_product/pocket-gt/owners_manuals/4a9a1ed3-aaef-4d12-8fa9-e23f3da82958/

Something REALLY interesting is the Guitar Simulator option. This looks like a cross between V-Guitar and Mooer's tone capture with options to convert single coil to humbucker, humbucker to hollow-body etc.

The problem I have with theses pocket thingies are the chords.
I have the zoom and Line6 pocket pod and express. They're fine for
the price and purpose.
I've even recorded a couple of cds with all of them
But to have them at home...
Doesn't really matter how good they sound..
You lay it on a table, you have a guitar chord and headphones plugged in.
They outweigh the pocket unit and it falls , or it's awkward to keep it on the table.

For me to get one , it should have wireless in and out, I'd settle for Bluetooth.

I'm guessing I'm getting one anyway though....
swimming with a hole in my body

I play Country music too, I'm just not sure which country it's from...

Meh ..
i can't see how you can use the pedal effects (Wah, pitch bend) 'pedal position' parameters without some sort of EXP input.

Yeah, that confused me too. In the parameter section it lists those effects but then states that you can't use an external pedal! Mind you, you could use wah effects on the GR-09 with the normal pedals, albeit in a limited way.

Maybe you have to grow a third hand and trigger it via a button.

I'll second 'meh' and will be sticking with my NUX MightyPlug for day to day practicing and tune-learning.

Meh from me, too, but I wanted to comment on my experience with the 'Guitar Sim' effect, because I expect it's similar to the one on the GT-1.
I really, really like that effect a LOT. I get great tones from it. Sounds great with every guitar I've tried on it, which includes a couple Steinberger Spirits (one with stock pickups that sound pretty meh on their own), Squier Tele & Strat, & a Fender Nashville Tele.

If this thing cost as little as a GT-1, I'd be impressed. This price is uninspiring.

I believe that's what the "Boss Duct-Tape" is for:

Boss Pocket GT has 15% of the FX parameters vs SY-1000

therefore Boss Tone Studio for Pocket GT should provide a fast / speedy experience

The GT-1 + a $15 Bluetooth audio adapter ( into GT-1 Aux Input for streaming backing tracks) delivers bulk of the Pocket GT features

(FWIW - all FX are same)

I'm no fan of the Smartphone wireless editors - need a Tablet and more real estate

a mini PC works well with Boss GT-1 for Editing and recording

And in 2020 Boss only provides third party Cab IR support on $1000 GT-1000 ( and poorly) - which continues to leave Boss trailing behind the curve

But for mobile rehearsing the NUX Mighty Plug @ $69 is selling faster - and provides 24 bit USB Recording / re-Amping too)

They also could do with updating their amp selection, which hasn't really moved that much on since the original VG-8. Yes, yes, n variants of Marshalls and Plexis, but I'd take a HiWatt or a Supro over an Matchless amp any day.

I think the VG-8 COSM design time was the pinnacle of Boss/Roland development,
and everything since then has been a copy/paste clone with minor overall tone tweaks, but the core COSM engine has never changed in 30 years.
I think 30 years ago they had innovative engineers, and now they are scared they might break it if messing with the core code.

I had to do a double take there but sure enough, the VG-8 came out in 1995. And it's still an amazing bit of kit. I think you're right though - the chance of Roland still having the source code (let alone the development platforms) from that far back are minimal.

It would be great to have for the katana air the same in-app YouTube and mp3 feature that allow to make A/B looping in YouTube and mp3.....boss..please

Agree, cables are a pain. Grab a Line 6 g10 wireless unit. Problem solved. You can Usually find them on eBay for around $100.

Does anybody know if this Pocket GT includes a good metronome?

Big meh.....Reminds me of the old Korg Pandora. So what can I do with this that I can't do with an iPad/iPhone, a few free apps and headphones, other than have the "hallowed" GT models?. It does have some cute features, but not $249 worth. I own a GT-1000 and know its strengths and shortcomings. IMHO, Boss is really trying to suck every ounce of money they can out of the GT platform, generally ignore their users' feedback, and remain behind the curve vs the competition. The thing is overpriced as well (just like the GTCore). I wish they would make something their users really want like a freaking updated GR-55!
