I am getting what sounds like a popping noise every minute or two.
Any suggestions of what might be causing this?
I have checked all the audio and GK cables with other gear, even swapped cables,
and that doesn't seem to be the problem.
Any ideas of what I can troubleshoot.
Is there any kind of reset or test mode?
Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like EMI burst  - from a local electronic appliance

( Water Heater Pilot Light, Refrigerator defroster, etc)

I am not having any other hum, noise or buzzing, just a pop every couple minutes.
Does that still sound like an EMI burst?
How do you deal with it, same way you would deal with a Ground Loop or some other way.
Thanks for the advice!

Does it happen without the guitar plugged in?

Only when the GK cable is plugged in.
But it does happen even when not playing as long as the cable is plugged in.

I could be a bad cable - do you have another GK cable to try?

I have already tried multiple cables.
The cables also work fine on other GK devices.

Honestly, they way you describe it, I tend to believe it's the electronics... :(

It's like a static built-up... I've seen these type of popping sounds in so many audio circuits, and 90% of the time it turns out to be a defective component (a bad cap, opamp, etc.).

The remaining 10%: dirt, corrosion on the PCB, salty deposits due to liquid spillage, battery corroded contacts (not your case, I know), etc.

Are you using the piezo or the mag input? If you're using the piezo, there's a small chance you have a bad piezo pickup ground. Try to switch the the input to mag option from the main display panel and see if you still get the popping noise.

If you are using any digital connections it could be a clocking issue where you have different sample rates competing with each other. This will make a ticking sound.

Although you are probably not using the normal guitar pickups I found it really helps if you plug a cable from the normal guitar output into the GK hex pickup.

Eventually you may get more than clicks and pops but some rather horrible sounds when playing.

I think static electricity or something like that builds via the pickpups in the strings when you are playing and the normal pickups and guitar electronics  are not grounded via the 13-pin cable.

I hope this helps.
