Zoom just announced their new F6 field recorder for location sound audio recording. Rather than just tweak the form factor, which they did, they also moved to dual analogue to digital converters which record to 32 bit. So the way you record changes pretty dramatically. When recording to 32 bit, you don't set the gain trim (there is none), you simply adjust the fader for each input channel. If you missed the level, no problem, in post you can cleanly normalize to the levels you need with no degradation in audio quality.

They've also switched up a few other things: The screen is a slightly smaller version of the high resolution screen from the F8n, the back of the recorder is a Sony NP-F (L series) battery sled, and you can now power the F6 via its USB-C input. The same quality timecode generator from the F8n is on board, this time with a 3.5mm TRS input/output jack. The F6 has a single SD card slot for recording media and still includes the advanced hybrid limiter when you record in 24 bit.

Auto mix is included and the with an adapter, you can use the Zoom Control app for iOS. You can also use the Zoom F-Control control surface.

We'll have a full review after the F6 starts shipping, hopefully in June 2019. Pricing still to be announced.

Roland Introduces BTM-1 Portable Wireless Speaker With Connector For Electric Guitar
The new system Roland BTM-1 is a Bluetooth-column with a guitar combo function. As is clear from the appearance of the device, it is intended primarily for listening to music, and the guitar input was just an additional nice option. Despite the modest dimensions of the BTM-1, the manufacturer promises "optimized accurate sound transmission."

The music on the BTM-1 can be broadcast not only via Bluetooth, but also over the wire (AUX), there is also a headphone jack. If we talk specifically about the guitar block, then there is a classic gain controller, delay, tone and volume adjustment.

The built-in battery is enough, as Roland writes, for six hours. It can be assumed that such a combo-amp-speaker will interest guitarists who like to play music outside the home. The price of new items has not yet been announced.

The Canadian pedal manufacturer had caused a sensation at the 2019 NAMM with a prototype, now Solid Gold FX has released this under the name LYSIS. A "POLYPHONIC OCTAVE DOWN FUZZ MODULATOR" ... now you know - or not?

Solid Gold FX LYSIS
I've always been a big fan of synth sounds! Almost everything I tried to get close to these sounds with my bass: BOSS SYB-5 *, Roland V-Synth, Yamaha G50, Industrial Radio MIDI Bass ... I had them all. ; o) The Solid Gold FX LYSIS is also designed to make connected instruments sound more synthetic. But in a sympathetic and lively way instead of old MIDI sounds. For example, how do you bend a guitar towards a synthesizer?

synthesis
The Canadians have collected all the components of a synthesizer in the compact housing of the LYSIS. At the beginning there is a fuzz , which acts as a kind of oscillator and shapes the incoming signal in the direction of the square wave / sawtooth. Voice adds one or two DSP-controlled octaves , a kind of sub-oscillator. Of course, a filter should not be missing: The cutoff can be modulated either manually, via an expression pedal or automatically. HPF (high pass filter) and LPF (low pass filter) provide clear sound differences. Blend mixes fuzz, octave and the filter section together. At the end of the chain is still oneVibrato ready.

Independent sounds
In my opinion, the LYSIS has some very cool synthesizer sounds on board, check out the videos! Are you familiar with other good synthesizer FX pedals for guitar and bass in particular? Or songs on which such an effect is prominently represented? Let me know!

price
The Solid Gold FX LYSIS costs $ 250 . Not a little, but in my opinion it is a really original-sounding effects device of a sympathetic small company, which really deserves the label "Boutique"!

Isn't this another variant of a eh microsynth??

Klark Teknik effects?

Built-in tuner

Is Behringer now also building electric guitars? Leak pics of "Les Uli" surfaced

Behringer electric guitar LEs Uli single cut leak fake teaser

Behringer had recently come up with very many synthesizers that are not only (strongly) "inspired" by well-known models, but also get some modern updates. Inspired by the success of the sound generators, Uli Behringer has now probably set the next goal: electric guitars. It has been around before, but now Behringer is serious.

We just call the Behringer electric guitar Les Uli , because the big role model is more than clear.

Whether Gibson will like the latest stories and the impending lawsuit ?

The images were leaked to us and we can not say at the moment whether this is a rendering or a prototype . A Les Pau ... er ... I mean a single cut , is certainly a solid choice for a debut since the break after the Strat-style guitar. And the white pot buttons on the black body are also delicious. Can not do much wrong.

Apart from the 1: 1 copied Les ... Single Cut ... Behringer seems to have made further changes here. Under the bridge is probably an effect unit of the Music Group subsidiary Klark Teknik . On the not so modern orange display is Delay / Chorus to read. However, where the component comes from the range, we can not say. The buttons also look rather unwieldy under the bridge.

There are also buttons and LEDs on the bottom for a built-in tuner . Very cool idea, even if the position is rather difficult. Just tune in between the songs - you just have to turn your guitar over or upside down.

Also on Instagram , a picture of the ominous Behringer electric guitar has been shown, which is now offline again. Presumably feakguitars.basti went too fast to the public. After a few hours it was already offline again . But we found after screenshots a screenshot of it.

Proof on Instagram

Behringer electric guitar
Hand on the heart. That's all nonsense. Fake News with alternative facts, as they say in German. Of course, Behringer does not build a new electric guitar. At least not now and not this Les Uli. We have come up with that. Nobody wants to have the tuner on the spot. And legally that would be more ... difficult to expensive. In which ... ;)

Have you gone to the door?

But honestly: why not? Would you buy guitars from Behringer? The synthesizers have a lively fan base around the company with the former forum epithet Deadringer collected. Copycat or not: It would be interesting anyway.

Jupiter III J3DX

It looks like a ground effect and yet it is a space synthesizer, which can be influenced by means of trigger and light sensor.

What is a space synthesizer? That's what I asked myself, but you just have to listen and then know why you gave him the planet name so often used with a name that also looks somehow "known".

Jupiter III - Space Synthesizer
Five buttons and two buttons are enough for the operation. And a button on the left seems to replace some sort of envelope. The synth is analog and in an older version for 10 years to have. This version is extended and equipped for the 10th anniversary with LFO, Decay, modulation strength, sweep and pitch . So the buttons that you can see on the device did not exist before.

The interesting thing is that you can trigger the synth via an audio input . In the video you can see that on an iPad with a drum machine and a special little box on which you can drum .

The third option is to achieve effects via the light sensor . The video suggests using a pulsating light to make correspondingly flexible modulations and can also darken it with a finger.

The sounds are certainly not something like the solution for standard sounds. The piano sounds a bit rough, but the space sounds could be used for a performance. You could hold the device in your hand on a stage, go forward and play a small all-day synth phony. Would that be something?

More information
Chamber Of Sounds has a shop and website that you can find here. Jupiter III costs $ 275. The funny, orange little lapel drum box can be bought for $ 25.

I understand that a lot of classic guitar tones were created using the technology emulated by the Strymon Volante. I also see how this pedal might be a home run for many guitarists. I am also a huge Strymon fan.
