Hi,

I just tried to use the SY-1000 as an audio interface for quantiloop on iphone, it doesn't show up as an audio interface like when I connect my helix.

Don't tell me a 1200$ device doesn't support it.

No, the SY-1000 is not USB "class compliant".
so no IOS iPad/iPhone compatibility.

I use it on my Mac as an audio interface but I don't think it works on an iPad or iPhone.

Some devices have more complicated features that would be very difficult to configure for "plug & play" (class compliant) behavior.

That the SY-1000 is not class-compliant is not necessarily a short-coming. It just means that the feature set (including use with editors, audio, MIDI, etc) requires a dedicated driver to be installed.

Some devices will work anyway when connected, and extra features in those cases are just ignored.

Although it's worth pointing out the Line-6  Helix also provides 8 input USB AUDIO ,  8 output USB AUDIO, MIDI I/O - yet accomplishes this as a USB Class Compliant device. -using the USB 2.0 specifications Roland co-wrote.

Yeah, if they'd managed to sort this out we wouldn't have to worry about drivers and compatibility across platforms/devices...oh, and neither would Boss!

I wonder if there is a valid reason that Boss chose to not go this route. It sounds like the reasons I gave above didn't stop Line 6. Would it be possible for Boss to do a big firmware update that would make it class compliant? I won't hold my breath on that one-- as it probably doesn't matter to most users.

Been requesting this since 2008

Older Roland / Boss gear provide 2 modes of operation

Like Roland VG-99 or Boss GT-10

* 2 channel 16 bit USB Class Compliant-aka "Normal Mode"

*  2 channel 24 bit ASIO (Steinberg) / Apple Core Audio  mode -aka "Advanced Mode"

In 2023 the Boss RC-600 supports a USB Class Compliant mode - so current regime is  aware of this feature .
