Price for the GDEC 30 is $189.99 now.

Careful here - for those looking for G-DECs used.

The G-DEC 30 is the original 30-watt version built through 2010.  It is MIDI-only and does not include USB, so even though there is a Mac/PC preset editor available, you cannot use the FUSE software and you cannot play back MP3s.  Some have 2 knobs on the right side with front-mounted MIDI in/out, some have 3 knobs on right side with back-panel MIDI in/out.

The G-DEC 3 (or 3.0) is the newest version, with front-panel USB and SD card slot.

Good advice!

Yes the G-DECs are confusing as the features changed quite a bit over the years.

I was lucky to grab two of the G-DEC 3 Thirty's for $149 ea. They just arrived today.

With these - I could start a guitar school, or replace my rhythm guitarist (hmmmm)

Since these are full range amps, I could feed the GR-55 into a pair for stereo, and still have two separate loopers, and decent guitar amp sims. (best $300 i've ever have spent)

Also the G-DEC 3 Thirty's price has now jumped back up to $185-$199 most places.

But the matching foot pedal is now down to $43

YEs I noticed that just three days ago - Fender updated their G-DEC 3 page - and only show the hideous "Metal G-DEC 3 Thirty "  - the other models of the  Thirty watt and fifteen watt are gone an no longer listed.
http://www.fender.com/products/gdec3/models.php?prodNo=23545006

We all must remember there is a Summer NAMM show just weeks away.

We could make a wager -

Did Fender kill The G-DEC 3  - because :

* Will Fender release a new G-DEC 4 ????

or

* Will Fender simply kill the whole line  - since the Mustang series sells better and still has the USB port and shares the same Fender Fuse app that the G-DEC 3 uses.

I really don't know?   One aspect of all this is every G-DEC 3 includes 99 backing tracks composed by a dozen artists - and it would not surprise me if the Fender payments to  BMI / ASCAP for every G-DEC 3 that gets sold  played a large role in the decision to drop the line.

YEs I'm crazy - i now own two G-DEC 3 Thirtys, and one G-DEC 3 fifteen ( total cost for all three = $400)

I figure I can load each of them with 8GB SD cards filled with music minus one music files and loan them to my band mates - so they have no excuse not to rehearse the tunes !!!!!

On a side note  - Lately i run into more "baby boomers" who are un-employed General contractor types - yet do want to play music and do want to join a local band (mine), but they don't have any computer skills and do not have any email.
(its 2012 for christ sake!)

No wonder these guys are out of work, and are marching lock step with whatever agenda the TV tells them is truth.

I figure I can give one of these G-DECs to my future rhythm guitarist and he can use the built in "MP3  slow down - with A/B looper"  - to learn the tunes.

Im recently working with two Fender G-DEC 3 thirty amps,

They have 300% more features than even Fender marketing knows.

http://www.fender.com/products/gdec3/comparison.php

With a pair of G-DEC 3 thirties (my total cost $300) + a pair of Fender ULT-4  foot control pedals, I have two independent loopers with SOS overdub capability. (38 seconds full bandwidth, or 2.5 minutes low bandwidth. ) Its like owning a Les Paul "Paulverizer".
The G-DEC 3 can sync its looper function to a MIDI clock tempo derived from a SMF MIDI file played from either its internal 256mb memory, or a 8GB SD card (for lots and lots of tunes)  inserted into one of the G-DEC 3's.

I can assign one G-DEC 3 to be master tempo clock master, and route a separate stereo feed of only the click track using the assignable Balanced TRS Outputs  (exclusive with the Thirty watt version ) of this SMF MIDI audio player  - without the live guitar parts.
An independent metronome out feed to a self powered floor monitor is used for the live drummer. The G-DEC 3 can quantize and sync its overdub capable looper to the MIDI clock of any SMF MIDI file that is being played, and its simple to create an SMF file that has no music  - but only click track - so I create separate SMF MIDI files with different tempos for each song. There is a full General MIDI synth engine onboard so I can use percussion sounds from the General MIDI sound set for a drummer click track,    and I use the 2nd G-DEC -3's looper with a volume pedal control for more wild random loops, which are not so dependent on being in sync.
Plus the G-DEC 3 thirty an external Line Input, and separate piezo guitar input on the rear, and has a two way full range 10" woofer and 2 inch tweeter, and "flat enough" freq response  - so a pair of G-DEC 3 thirty's can  work as a stereo stage monitor for GR-55, VG-99, or Kemper.
All without lugging a computer, and it looks really simple once you wrap your brain around it. The SD card can even play full MP3 or wave files  - for full backing track playback if reqired. very  powerful stuff and cheap right now.

ZZounds still has the G-DEC 3 Fifteen watt amps  in stock  for $99 with free shipping and no tax.
They ship from Nevada
http://www.zzounds.com/prodsearch?q=g-dec&pa=29&key=q&form=search

Where else can you spend $99 and get:

* An iPad USB guitar interface

* An MP-3 / Wave/ SMF MIDI player with Pitch change, Tempo Change, Vocal Cancellation,  that you can load up dozens of tunes using SD cards

* A Very good DSP Amp Modeller using the same engine as the new Mustang amps - with Fender Fuse Editor to add up to 4 different stomp boxes in front  of the Amp, and 3 stereo FX after the Cab simulator - its sounds huge when feeding a PA.

* A DVD with IK Amplitube Fender LE, and Ableton Live 8 LE and lots of training videos.

* A SOS Looper with MIDI clock sync

* Works with an optional 4 button foot control  for Tuner, patch changes, Backing track playback and looper controls.

* 5 year transferrable Warranty

I predict these will all  be gone and sold out very soon.

I think Fender has done really great job with G-Dec series and Mustang amps series. They are built in high quality, come with 2 softwares for sound editing and recording. And everything that is for affordable price. I have Mustang II. Work great:)

FWIW- IOS8 does not work with Fender G-Dec 3 thirty. If you still wish to use this amp as an IOS Audio Interface, stick with IOS 7

Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty - FUSE patch files

Hello,

I really like my G-DEC 3, although it's a little buggy.

QuoteThe G-DEC 3 can sync its looper function to a MIDI clock tempo derived from a SMF MIDI file played from either its internal 256mb memory, or a 8GB SD card (for lots and lots of tunes)  inserted into one of the G-DEC 3's.

This is exactly what I try. I try to make the looper of the G-DEC 3 sync to a MIDI file.
As I understand the manual, for that I need to put a SMF MIDI file into the phrase folder. Just playing a MIDI as a Band Track whouldn't sync the looper, does it?
Anyway, my G-DEC 3 doens't recognize the MIDI file I put into the phrase folder. It only recongnizes WAV files that stick to a certain naming convention. Is there a naming convention for MIDI files, too?
Or what do I have to do to make the looper sync to a MIDI file?

Thank You!

This info is from the Advance Owner's manual. To play them you use the "Band Menus".

Band menus
Use the Band menus to select a new band track for the current preset and adjust all band track settings, or to import the band track (will all settings) from another preset.
Band Track Selection
To select a new band track:
1. Press the BAND soft-key.
2. The first menu is Band Type. Here you can select either
MP3/WAV –or– MIDI as the band track file type.

[ch9835] Select MP3/WAV as the Band Type for the best results in
most instances. MIDI is more useful for specialized purposes
such as generating metronome clicks.
3. Press the FILE soft-key to access the band track File selection
menu.
4. Turn the big knob to select a new band track.
[ch9835] Turning the big knob will scroll through all the band tracks on the G-DEC 3 hard drive (HD) in alphanumerical order and then continue with all the band tracks on the SD card (SD).
5. Press EXIT.
[ch9835] The SAVE button will turn red to indicate a change to the current preset. To reset the band track, simply turn the big knob to a different preset and then back again.
