Hi,

After years using the VG-99 standalone with an effects rig, I've a new job that's fairly itinerant and so am trying to get it talking to my PC to make everything more portable; specifically I'm looking for the main audio out to take it to a DAW.

I've followed all the advice here:  https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=15832.0   ...to no avail.   I've tried several times, with variations, but keep getting the message "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".  However, the driver does appear to be on the machine (in C:\Prgram Files\Roland\VG-99 Driver\).

Any ideas?

It's that path correct or is it a typo? If you've quoted it accurately, that could be your problem.

Suggest you do an interweb search on "windows driver error 39" for other possibilities, all the ones I've read seem more likely than my first typo query.

After a lot of searching I've managed to resolve this, which appears to be a problem accross multiple Roland drivers.  The cure is here:

Something to do with a core memory setting having changed in Registry.
