I picked up the 100W head version yesterday for a portable amp. Dragging my Marshall's and effect board around to practice is something I loathe, and the Katana seemed like a good alternative. From the clips I've heard on Youtube, this thing can sound really good. Take it out live? I have hope!

My main question is, does the  tone central software open it up quite a bit more than what the faceplate controls offer? I am playing it through a Marshall 1960A cab, and I am not really feeling this amp. I have yet to interface it with my PC as I need the proper input to do so. I'll pick that up tomorrow!

Anyway, Help me out! I want to love this amp :) I don't expect a JCM thing , but some of the clips are pretty freaking cool. I have this feeling the PC app opens it up to new levels. Please be true!?

Thanks for any help

Thank you for the link. I've been playing around with it and got really close to a Marshall style tone I like. it reminds me of my Mesa Boogie in that I am constantly playing with the settings. The settings seem very touchy.

I'll give it some more time and see what I can find. I did notice quite a few of the overdrive/distortion preamps have the chainsaw gain effect. That tone is like nails on a chalkboard to me :)

But, I did squeeze one good patch out so far.

Thanks again

Tone Studio is surprisingly powerful if you make it so.

You can really go deep and fine-tune the amp on its back end away from the front-end EQ (Treble, Bass etc)--Juca Neri has some patches that try to get the amps sounding close to the real thing as possible this way.
