Hi All,

I have a GT8 that is in very good condition, always looked after and it lives in a road case.

Recently it has been cutting out, like no sound on any patch and the really weird thing is I am doing a Broadway style show so it is the same show every night and the GT8 is cutting out in exactly the same place in the show every night.

The setup is: Gtr>GT8>Fender Hotrod Deville ML, with a Mesa Boogie V-Twin in the FX loop of the GT8.

The FX loop is only activated on patch 3 and 4.

Can anyone offer any advice about what might be causing this? I only use the GT8 for ambient FX, Delay, Chorus, Reverb etc no amp modelling or speaker sims.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Clean the Jacks and all Volume pots

and you might be due for a internal battery replacement
(Back up all user patches  -

use Gumtown's GT-8  FxFloorboard Editor
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fxfloorboard/files/GT-8FxFloorBoard/

Get a new CR-2032 coin cell battery
replace it internally)

Do a Factory Reset

Re-install patches

The GT-8 is 15 years old, getting on a bit, and if it is to be used for gigs every night of the week, I would maybe consider an upgrade to a GT-100 or GT-1000.
I can't deal with gear that randomly cuts out, a very annoying situation.
For the GT-8 there could be many variables, as Elantric has suggested, backup your patches, replace the internal lithium CR2032 battery cell, then apply a Factory Reset, reload the user patches, spray the jack sockets.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

Thanks, Yes I know it's getting on a bit but for what I need it for it works just fine until this latest problem. I'll try what you suggested and see where that takes me. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help, I have just realised that the problem is coming from the sound department. I am able to establish that the signal is getting as far as the DI box, so I think the problem is on the sound desk.
