I've been trying to find a low priced freezer to replace that effect provided by  the VG99 freeze & I seem to be trying to sell mine.

I thought "ha! Eureka, here's the answer!" But alas, despite the input being described as stereo, they're using the term as a synonym for TRS.
I wonder how many people have wrongly bought one.

So, the hunt continues. Maybe I should say the wait continues, till a manufacturer decides to bring out a simple box with just that one function?

Look for "REVERB FREEZE"

Its found on Strymon and Source Audio effects and most are stereo I/O

Antonuzzo

There are pedals that do this - the Electro-Harmonix Freeze Retainer and the Mooer Modverb both have latch freeze functions (and I wouldn't be surprised to find EH's algorithms in the Mooer unit). They're both mono though, but affordable - you can probably pick up a Mooer for around £50.
