The Classics IV is a band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, United States, in 1965. The band is often credited for establishing the "soft southern rock" sound. The band, led by singer Dennis Yost, is known mainly for the hits "Spooky", "Stormy", and "Traces", released 1967 to 1969, which have become cover standards.  (from Wikipedia)

This was one of my favorites from my rock band days in the 1960's. Below is a wav file made from a midi, played using my Casio keyboard into Audacity (melody line removed) . I loaded it into my USB memory drive on the GR-55. Ready to jam 8)

Dang, I was under the impression that these guys were from my hometown, Atlanta. Dunno why I thought so, but we sure do hear a lot of 'Spooky' and 'Stormy' on local radio, even today.

Possibly because the Atlanta Rhythm Section did a great version of the song years ago...

This is Dennis Yost obituary...it gives better details of where the group performed

Great backing track. Thanks for sharing.

This song is my band's go-to warm-up for gigs, usually for the sound check. The lead guitarist and I trade off melody, rock and jazzy riffs, pretty much anything goes.

A definite crowd pleaser.
