ANSWER
To prevent effects of the GT-1000 during playback, select "GT-1000 MAIN" ("3-4 GT-1000" for mac) as the playback device.
When "GT - 1000 DRY" ("1-2 GT - 1000 in the case of mac") is selected as the playback device, the signal is sent to the beginning of the effect chain, so output with the effect of GT - 1000 It will be.

~ Reference

The GT - 1000 's USB driver has three ports, each with a different signal flow.

【GT-1000 DRY / 1-2 GT-1000】

5【GT-1000】Q. How can I record an effected sound on the DAW?
ANSWER
Please select "GT - 1000 MAIN" ("3-4 GT - 1000 in case of mac") on DAW input device.

~ Reference

The GT-1000's USB driver has a different signal flow.

【GT-1000 DRY / 1-2 GT-1000】
While monitoring the GT - 1000 's effect sound, you can actually send only dry sound to the DAW without applying any effects.

【GT-1000 MAIN / 3-4 GT-1000】
This effect can be applied directly to the sound of the guitar connected to the GT - 1000 and recorded to the DAW, and it is used when you apply the effect.

By using these two ports separately, you can also use the opposite way to send the recorded tracks to the GT - 1000 to the DAW and apply the effect of the GT - 1000 back to the DAW.

Specifically, for tracks that you do not want to apply an effect to, select "GT - 1000 DRY" and select the "GT - 1000 MAIN" for the track you want to apply the effect, while monitoring with the GT - 1000 main unit You can leave the DAW track's dry sound and the other you can apply the GT - 1000 's effect.

GT-1000: Control of External MIDI Devices with PATCH MIDI

Please use the GT-1000 PATCH MIDI in order to target multiple external devices on different MIDI CHANNELS. Please see the GT-1000 PARAMETER GUIDE page 35 to review PATCH MIDI.
https://www.boss.info/us/support/by_product/gt-1000/owners_manuals/6f4ee1ca-e847-494f-aac2-38a822db1c08/

For each PATCH on the GT-1000 you can have a 1-4 PATCH MIDI programmed.

Each PATCH MIDI can send MIDI DATA along a selected MIDI CHANNEL (1-16), a PC#(1-128), CC1# and CC2#(1-128). If necessary MSB and LSB#(1-128) for Bank variation and access.
This is the way in which you'll be able to MIDI control your external devices.

NOTE: MIDI SYSTEM GLOBAL parameters will not need adjustment. Disregard Device ID for now because it's only necessary if communicating to two external devices on the same MIDI CHANNEL.

For this example, EXTERNAL DEVICE #1 and DEVICE #2 are setup to receive MIDI DATA on isolated MIDI CHANNELS:

DEVICE#1= is set to MIDI CHANNEL 1 on the external device.
DEVICE#2= is set to MIDI CHANNEL 2 on the external device.

The GT-1000 can send PATCH MIDI by pressing a PATCH 1-5 foot switch buttons in MEMORY MODE (LED BLUE). We recommend setting up two PATCHES, PATCH MIDI 1 and PATCH MIDI 2 for each U01-1 and U01-2.

For an example for U01-1 set up PATCH MIDI:
Press MENU - select CONTROL ASSIGN (KNOB 1) - select PATCH MIDI (KNOB 3):
Set PATCH MIDI PARAMETERS as follows:

MIDI CH: MIDI CHANNEL 1
PC# PROGRAM CHANGE: (1-128) will correlate to and external MIDI DEVICE PATCH.
Refer to your EXTERNAL DEVICE MANUAL for it's MIDI PROGRAM CHANGE RECEIVE MAP.

NOTE: MIDI RX/RECEIVE may differ depending on brand etc. Some may start at PC#0 others at PC#1. Some simple math calculations may be needed to correlate PC# and external device PATCH NUMBER. Also some MIDI DEVICES have a SET MIDI RX MAP, some have a PROGRAMMABLE MIDI RX MAP, some may have MIDI RX LEARN functionality.

BANK MSB and LSB#: (1-128)
Only necessary if targeting PATCHES above PC#128 use LSB#(1-128).
For this example set to 0 or OFF.

CC1# CONTROL CHANGE 1 #: (1-128) Use the CC# to target specific EXTERNAL DEVICE PATCH PARAMETER or SUB PARAMETER. (ie: TIME, RATE, GAIN, etc.)

CC2# CONTROL CHANGE 2 #: (1-128) Second CC# for targeting another EXTERNAL DEVICE PATCH PARAMETER or SUB PARAMETER.

CC1 VALUE: (0-127) Value for targeted CC1#. 0-127 may apply accordingly 0 = OFF, 127 = ON, OR to 0-100 or 0-200 of a PARAMETER.

CC2 VALUE: (0-127) Vale for targeted CC2#. 0-127 may apply accordingly 0 = OFF, 127 = ON, OR to 0-100 or 0-200 of a PARAMETER.

WRITE/SAVE these changes to PATCH MIDI 1 for the PATCH U01-1.
Go to PATCH U01-2 and make similar adjustments for it's PATCH MIDI 1.
This will control the first EXTERNAL DEVICE #1 on MIDI CHANNEL 1 when switching between PATCH U01-1 and U01-2.

To control EXTERNAL DEVICE #2, create and program PATCH MIDI 2 on MIDI CHANNEL 2 for both PATCHES U01-1 and U01-2. This allows for isolated control of each EXTERNAL DEVICE via MIDI CHANNEL and MIDI PC and CC DATA.

Check and test when switching between U01-1 and U01-2 on the GT-1000 and if corresponding external PC# and CC#s are being sent by the GT-1000 and the EXTERNAL DEVICES are syncing correctly.

https://rolandus.zendesk.com/hc/en-...trol-of-External-MIDI-Devices-with-PATCH-MIDI

GT-1000 Editor has a "PATCH MIDI " assignment page for transmitting MIDI Bank/Patch No. and assigning MIDI CC#

For each PATCH on the GT-1000 you can transmit 4 unique MIDI messages

Here is how to access HX STOMP SNAPSHOT #1 ( MIDI CC#69, value 0)

On the below right, using Boss Tone Studio for GT-1000 Patch "U01-1 PREMIUM DRIVE" , I assigned a "PATCH MIDI" #1 message of MIDI CC#69 - value (0) on MIDI Channel #1 - to be transmitted anytime GT-1000 CH NUM 1 footswitch selects
"U01-1 PREMIUM DRIVE"

On the left above is the resulting MIDI-OX Monitoring session screen shot I toggled between Program #1 and Program #2 - indicating that each time I pressed the NUMBER 1 footswitch DOWN, the GT-1000 MIDI output transmits on MIDI CH#1 :

MIDI Bank MSB 0
MIDI Bank LSB 32
MIDI Program Change 0
MIDI Control Change (CC#) 69 - (value) 0

each time I released the NUMBER 1 footswitch, no MIDI data is transmitted

All GT-1000 assigned "PATCH MIDI" messages are sent sequentially upon each downward press of the footpedal.

There is no accommodation for assigning unique specific MIDI message / event with release of a foot switch.

@guitarrob Under Menu / MIDI / MIDI Settings, do you have NUM1 CC#, NUM2 CC#, etc. enabled? If you have those set to CC# 69, then I believe you'll get a value of 127 sent to CC# 69 when you press the corresponding footswitch and a value of 0 when you release it. For what you're trying to do, these should be set to "Off" or some other CC #. The Patch MIDI settings that @Elantric described should work for you if the general MIDI settings are correct.
That was it PAH! Thank you!! Under Menu / MIDI / MIDI Settings, I had NUM1 CC#, NUM2 CC#, etc. enabled and set to CC# 69. That is what was causing the conflict! When I set all of these to "Off" as you suggested, presto, everything worked fine. Thanks again PAH! Now I've got some programming work to do!

Also, I'd like to thank Elantric and JiveTurkey and the others who took the time to try to get this up and running for me as well!

GT-1000: Set Up TUNER for CURRENT NUMBER

Set up the GT-1000 TUNER for CURRENT NUMBER so that the CURRENT PATCH NUMBER being played can be used to TOGGLE the TUNER ON/OFF.
This will allow the user to regain CONTROL 3/CTL3 to be programmed for other functionality like an added effect ON/OFF, etc.

Press [MENU], press (KNOB1) for the CONTROL ASSIGN MENU,

Press (KNOB1) for CONTROL FUNCTION MENU,

Within the CONTROL FUNCTION MENU, press the [PAGE RIGHT > ARROW] button for Page 2.

Locate CUR NUM/CURRENT NUMBER in the bottom right corner of the CONTROL FUNCTION SCREEN (see below).

Turn (KNOB1) to SELECT and highlight the CUR NUM row for PREFERENCE, turn (KNOB6) to set to SYSTEM. (This will make CUR NUM for TUNER setting SYSTEM/GLOBAL for all PATCHES).

Turn (KNOB1) to highlight CUR NUM row for FUNCTION and turn (KNOB6) to set FUNCTION to TUNER,

Turn (KNOB1) to CUR NUM row for MODE and turn (KNOB6) to set MODE to TOGGLE.

The CONTROL ASSIGN FUNCTION has been set to SYSTEM, so there is no need to WRITE/SAVE settings, it will automatically remain set and saved.

Test and check in MEMORY MODE, use the PATCH NUMBER FOOT SWITCH currently selected (LED BLUE), press once for the PATCH, again for TUNER TOGGLE ON and press once more for TUNER TOGGLE OFF to return to MEMORY PATCH play.

Now move on to setup and program CTL3 for customized functionality for each PATCH while still retaining TUNER with CUR NUM/CURRENT NUMBER.

Does anyone know if the GT1000 can receive MIDI program changes over Bluetooth?

I use OnSong for iPad (for song lyrics) and if I could link song-specific patches to the corresponding OnSong pages, this would be a huge help on stage. I currently use a BT page turner pedal to flick between songs during a set, so I love the idea of this being the only button press I need! Taking it a step further, I'd also like to incorporate vocal effects via the new Boss VE-500, so I'm hoping that the GT1000 can send program changes to that too.

I'll answer my own question - YES IT CAN!

I spent some time testing a GT1000 at the weekend, and after a bit of tinkering I found that the BT connection can be used to receive program changes from OnSong. This means I can spend a bit of time defining exactly which combination of guitar and vocal patches I need for each song, and then I just need to edit the set list order on my iPad, to get one-button sequencing for the entire gig! This is a killer feature which I think Boss need to start shouting about since it differentiates them from every other unit on the market right now.

After that, I did some ABing with a Helix to get a feel for how the tones compare. I didn't dive too deep but in the time I had, I found the Boss sounded easily as good and in many cases better than the Helix. Add to this the Stompbox feature, the poly tuner mode, the smaller footprint, and that was the decision made. The GT1000 came home with me!  :)

QuoteCan you explain each step to connect GT-1000 to iPad hosting Onsong?

did you need any third party hardware?

No hardware required - just a small in app purchase to enable MIDI in OnSong, followed by a poke around the settings. Once you connect the GT in the Boss app, it just connects as a regular MIDI device.
I need to replicate this on the unit I bought, so will try to document the exact steps when I set it up again...

Q:【GT-1000】 Even if you select "3-4 GT-1000" as a playback device, effects will be applied to the signal sent from the PC, what should I do?

A: ANSWER
Use  the system program (Firmware) of GT - 1000 is Ver.1.20 or later. ( FW 1.21 is latest)
* If your system program is Ver.1.20 or later, please also use the latest version of the USB driver.

In the GT-1000 system program version 1.20, the order of MAIN and DRY of the USB port is switched.
* For details of the changes, please refer to " GT-1000 System / Program (Ver.1.21) ".

Therefore, if the system program of GT-1000 is Ver. 1.20 or later, select "1-2 GT-1000" (GT-1000 MAIN) in order to prevent effects of GT-1000 during playback please.

Q: [Driver] Mac OS High Sierra (macOS 10.13) does not recognize the corresponding driver installed

A: ANSWER
It is possible that the installed driver is blocked by Mac security.

Please unblock the driver according to the procedure described in " TROUBLESHOOTING ~ EVEN IF THE DRIVER IS INSTALLED " .

With firmware 1.x, the cab and output blocks were one and the same.

With firmware 2.0 - 3.02, the cab and outputs were separate blocks, but they moved together. The cabs were depicted as a branch out point in you chain, and the output was the end of that branch. You could put effects between the cab and output, and they'd move with the cab/output, too.

In Firmware 3.10, the branch out point and the cab are now separate and the cabs can be moved out of the branches into the common signal path. You can still move the output to move the branch, so you can still do what you are used to doing.

But, with 3.10, you can also do other things:

Use one cab in the common path to affect both main and sub outs - not needing to duplicate settings.

Use a divider/mixer to put two amps in parallel, each with their own cab, mix them together, and then send them to both main and sub outs.

Use a divider to split your signal into two paths. One path emulates an acoustic guitar, the other has an amp and cab, then mix the two together and send to both main and sub outs. The acoustic is full range with no guitar cab, the amp has a cab.

Use a divider to split your signal into two paths. One path uses a send/return to an external synth effect, the other has an amp and cab, then mix the two together and send to both main and sub outs. The synth is full range with no guitar cab, the amp has a cab.

etc.
