GR-55 - Piano echo

Two questions.  First, is there a way to get rid of the echo (delay) in the acoustic piano synth tones?  I cant seem to find a way to turn off the echoing effect. 
No matter what piano tone I select it always has that echo.  And second, if not, is there a way to create a piano tone without using the piano presests? 
(Does that even make any sense!)

Well, I'm not sure what is/was going on but every patch (including the ones that came with the pedal) had a horrible echo on any piano patch.   
So.... I backed up all my patches and system settings, reset the pedal to factory (which I had been planning on doing anyway), restored and now the echo seems to have vanished.
Not sure why but all is good.  I'm sure I messed something up along the way.
