This looks pretty cool to me...nice design, 100 foot range, 6ms latency, 20-20K response, $150 on Amazon..

I picked up a set of these to replace my old Line 6 G30. They work great on my passive guitars but on the guitars with electronics they squeal like a pig. My Godin Multiac Jazz and Yamaha SLG200NT both suffer from this when conected to the piezo output. Anybody know any work arounds to solve this noise problem?

No solution

Explains why they state " incompatible with Active Electronics" in their owners manuals

It pays to read those prior to purchase
QuoteSupportive pickup and musical instrument
U2 wireless system can works for passive guitar
pickup, piezoelectric acoustic guitar pickup,
piezoelectric violin pickup. Active pickup and pickup
with microphone are not supported. Transmitter is
better to connect to the instrument. Please avoid
connecting it to distortion effect pedal or high power
output interface which may incur the timbre distortion.

I use one of these and it is noisy as hell on anything with a battery but, I added a 2.5 extension cable and clipped it to my guitar strap using a binder clip. No more noise.

Yeah right. By this age I should know that it always pays to read the manual before you purchase something.  ::)

I ordered a 1/4" female-to-female adapter. Will connect it to a short cable and see what happens when the transmitter is a little further away from the guitars.

FWIW, the squeal on the Godin makes it unusable. The Yamaha is much quiter and you only really notice it when not playing - still kind of anoying.

Thanks Big Jim and Admin.

Also planning to buy the Xvive U2 wireless/ Hope those are excellent as a Sweetwater rep. did swear on those

Just read the XVive U2 manual
http://www.xviveaudio.com/u2-p0056.html
http://www.xviveaudio.com/download/Manual/Xvive_U2_MANUAL_EN_V3.pdf

the XVive Wireless has issues if you have active PU's  / onboard electronic preamps

and watch where you feed it's signal from the receiver  ( i.e you will get lots of hiss if you feed it into a FuzzFace
QuoteSupportive pickup and musical instrument
U2 wireless system works fine with passive electric
guitar pickup, Piezo-electric acoustic guitar pickup and
Piezo-electric violin pickup. For the Active electric guitar,
pickup output voltage need less than 5.6Vp-p . Acoustic
guitar with microphone pickup system , Please keep the
U2 transmitter away from the microphone. Transmitter
is better to connect to the instrument. Please avoid
connecting it to distortion effect pedal or high power
output interface which may incur the timbre distortion.

Wow thanks for that vital piece of info- I currently use a Schecter that has a 2 active pick ups- sustainiac and an EMG retro active pickup so Xvive will be ruled out, or may well be still a good choice for my other guitars with passive pickups

Greetings,

I just bought a CFG cheap wireless (I wouldn't be surprised if the Xvive and others were made at the same Chinese factory) and have noise problems with a guitar that has a Sustainiac.  I couldn't really figure out what you meant regarding adding an extension cable.  Wouldn't you need a 1/4" TS female to 1/4" TS female to accomplish this?  I couldn't find such a thing on the web, which isn't surprising as it is basically a useless or redundant adapter.  How exactly did you connect the short cable and the wireless?

FYI, I'm not sure if this question went to directly to Big Jim, as I'm pretty new to this site and am still trying to suss out how to use it.

I'm not using xvive but a cheap donner 2.4 gig thing. I suspect it's all the same with a different label . It works unless a strong wifi is present then all heck breaks loose. Unfortunately the bigger clubs around here have a lot of wifi going on so I can only use it for practice and small joints. It's a shame because its stereo if you want it to be and sounds good when its working.
