When I record I use EZ Drummer 2 and it is a very intuitive program with some nice drum sounds. The problem I have is it is not enough patterns for me and I would like some links to some free and cheep midi collections.

I'm certainly not an expert in this area, but perhaps you can use something from the BeatBuddy site. I have one and the memory card image with MIDI stuff can be found there + more (I think).
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Toontrack themselves have a mass of midi packs in lots of styles that you can add to your groove collection.
