Thanks for the update!
Looks like my initial prediction was correct
QuoteIconnectAUDIO 4+ will not ship until Summer 2014 - which probably means Spring 2015 using our calenders

zenartist

Sweetwater let me know they will have them March 2

When will iConnectAudio4+ Ship to Dealers?

QuoteWith where our shipments are at right now, we should be seeing them late March to early April 2015 - depending on your location. Sounds like a possibly if you are in the N.A. region to see one before March ends, but there is no guaranty you will have one for the tour.

We are doing everything to get shipments into retailer's hands, but there were some unforeseen holdups in customs that caused delays.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.

I'm in the market to upgrade from my Scarlett 2i2 and this iConnectAUDIO4+ is a unit I've eyeing for some time. I've also run across a new contender in the Steinberg UR44.

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UR44

Both units fit my need for a unit of ~6" depth so that it will fit on my pedal board, both will work with ios devices, but the UR44 has an extra couple of inputs that would be nice to have even if not strictly necessary. I'm looking forward to your review of the iConnect when it arrives.

Suggest read the  iConnectAudio4+ Owners manual - its the only device I know that does what it does

This will allow me to incorporate my ipad IOS apps as a real time FX Buss for my Mac/Win machines and use my Fishman Tripleplay more effectively

– iConnectivity™, developer of
innovative interfaces for musicians, previewed iConnectAUDIO4+™, their next-generation audio
and MIDI interface for Mac, PC, and iOS.

iConnectAUDIO4+ is a multi-host audio and MIDI interface for MAC, PC, and iOS that combines
several of iConnectivity's innovative technologies in a uniquely flexible device.

iConnectAUDIO4+'s Multi-Host technology supports multiple audio and MIDI peripherals, and
also multiple computing devices, all at once. This allows any combination of up to 2 Mac, PC, and
iOS devices to share iConnectAUDIO4+'s I/O.

iConnectivity's multi-host and Audio & MIDI passThru technologies bridge iOS, Macs, and PCs in
a professional environment, with many practical applications. Control a virtual instrument (or any
music program) on one computer device from another one. Audio and MIDI flow back and forth
without extra cables, and with no audio degradation. All the computer devices act like a single
integrated machine.

The Host Port is another unique technology. Many peripherals use USB for MIDI I/O, but an iOS
device can only access one of them with its single port. The iConnnectAUDIO4+ Host Port
eliminates that limitation by accommodating several Class-Compliant USB MIDI devices at the
same time.

iConnectivity's iConfig software for iOS, MAC, PC (included) offers complete control over
iConnectAUDIO4+'s I/O, providing direct control over audio and MIDI routing. Snapshots are then
stored in flash memory on the device.ConnectAUDIO4+ features at a glance:

• Multi-Host & Host Port - use 2 computer devices (Mac/PC/iOS) at the same time. Or use 1
computing device with several and/or MIDI peripherals (with Class-compliant devices
connected to a powered USB hub.)
• Audio and MIDI passThru™ routes audio digitally between two computing devices.
• 4 XLR – ¼" TRS combo analog inputs.
• 4 ¼" TRS balanced analog outputs.
• 1 X 1 regular MIDI in/out.
• iConfig software (Mac, Windows, iOS) makes it simple to set up filtering/routing/merging
scenes – which are also stored in flash memory on the device.
• High-resolution audio - up to 24-bit/96kHz AD/DA conversion.
• USB audio and MIDI Class-Compliant for easy, plug-and-play set-up.
• Charges an iOS device.

iConnectAUDIO4+ is expected to be available at iConnectivity resellers worldwide mid-2014. Its
MSRP and projected street price are TBD. For more information please visit
www.iConnectivity.com or your favorite iConnectivity reseller.

First off it was incredibly kind of you to post such a detailed response and thus the table is set for tomorrows study. I'll have to see whether or not it entices me back to the land of ios since I'm pretty pleased with my rig without an iPad and I know what I'd do with the extra inputs on the UR44; wet vocal, dry vocal, left and right guitar, dry magnetic pickups from GP-10 and either an acoustic in or a guest input. My DAW template would always include a dry vocal and dry guitar hidden unless needed for post production or, alternatively, used by my DAW for parallel processing and the like. I've not studied your post yet but it appears to offer possibilities that weren't even a blip on the horizon for me. Now why does this feel so familiar?

iConnect Audio 4+ - Demo and Feature Review

Audio Patchbay Demistified
Many of the iConnectivity Innovative Interfaces have some kind of implementation of a digitally setable Audio Patchbay feature integrated in them. The Audio Patchbay can provide powerful capabilities to many of the musician's workflows, but this flexibility can also be daunting to understand and configure.

To help clarify for our users, the designers have produced a whitepaper.

I wonder how the iConnectAUDIO4+ stacks up against the iRig Pro and Sonic Port VX.

QuoteI wonder how the iConnectAUDIO4+ stacks up against the iRig Pro and Sonic Port VX.

I spent time with my iPad Air testing Positive Grid BIAS FX with various audio interfaces.

I describe the process here:

https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=14655.msg106231#msg106231

No doubt at this time BIAS FX + BIAS Amp = the best Guitar FX system on IOS. Been playing past 3 hours with it. Great accurate FX and Amps, no crashes.

I've been using the following Audio Interfaces.

All are 24bit , listed in the order of lowest noise / hiss observed using my ATH-M50X headphones

iRig Pro

SonicPort VX

UA-22 Duo Capture EX

IConnectAudio4+

All were reasonably quiet - but I had lowest noise / hum using iRig Pro, SonicPort VX  - both being powered directly via the iPad and their dedicated Lightning Cable connection.

The  UA-22 Duo Capture EX had a bit more hiss, and IConnectAudio4+ had the most hiss - but that might be due to its requirement to use an AC Power supply.
Also the Lineout on  iConnectAudio4+ should have lower hiss than the headphone output.
Since the IConnectAudio4+ employs a 12VDC@ 3 Amp Power supply brick, as it can also charge the connected iPad  / iphone - I expect a bit more noise.

If you have been following my progress on IPad recording - the "non AC Powered" Audio Interface options have lowest noise.

IconnectAudio4+ supports USB Hubs and multiple USB MIDI Devices

I have to admit that the iConnectAudio4+ looks really sweet, and if it would have been available when I bought my iDock, it might have been my choice instead.  Do you have one?  I wonder how the pre-amps and AD/DA converters in it sound.  I have the iConnectMIDI2+, and I have to admit I'm kind of awed by its feature set.  I assume this is has similar functionality on the MIDI side with all the routing/filtering/translations.

QuoteDo you have one?

I do have the  IconnectAudio4+
QuoteI wonder how the pre-amps and AD/DA converters in it sound.

IconnectAudio4+ has decent A/D section with headroom, no clipping on the Instrument setting - but so far i have only been able to use IconnectAudio4+'s  built in headphone output and Audio-Technica ATH-M50X headphones to judge its performance - so far I experience a bit more hiss compared to my current best sounding IOS Audio interface   =  the Line-6 Sonic Port VX when only powered by the ipad ( no external power)

With my array of gear, all interfaces that also "re-charge the iPad's Battery during use" suffer  9 to 12 dB higher noise floor

Jury is out for the IconnectAudio4+ until I can connect to my 1000 watt powered PA speakers

I just got a Focusrite 18i8 and then saw this unit. Not to much user information on it right now. Elantric have you had a chance to play with this any further? I am still within my time period to return the 18i8. The biggest draw for me would be the midi routing and the 4 inputs would be sufficient for my needs on most things. Was in a situation where the 4 mic pres and 4 line inputs were very enticing but now my situation has changed since I no longer am with that group(bad timing on getting a new unit). If the pres are of same quality then I may just bite on this. Like Elantric has pointed out the ability to link my MacBook and iPad to the same unit has some really amazing potential, along with all the "host" of other midi options...

I still own both a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 and iConnectAudio 4+

Each has a unique purpose.

Compared to the iConnectAudio 4+, the Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 has superior sounding mic pre's and more I/O for recording bands. Add an additional 1 space rack 8 channel Mic Pre with ADAT Optical interface and the Focusrite Scarlet 18i20, can record 16 separate Mic channels to your DAW. Also the Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 works great as an iPad Audio & 5pin DIN MIDI I/O interface too.

Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 is right at the top tier of the recommended interfaces for IOS Auria DAW
http://auriaapp.com/Support/auria-audio-interfaces

http://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-18i20

You just need to connect the Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 to a PC/MAC and run Scarlet MixControl app to configure the I/O - and click "Save to Hardware" - then you can power down and use with iPad+USB Camera Adapter

I'm still a bit  disappointed by the audio performance of the iConnectAudio4+, due to higher noise floor and hiss compared to the  Scarlet 18i20.

And for those who wonder - I own several Scarlets : 2i4, 18i6, 18i20 - all share the same great sounding  / low noise Mic  / Instrument preamp.

Only recent Focusrite products I avoid are:

iTrack Pocket (it's a toy, restricted to 16Bit audio)
http://us.focusrite.com/ios-audio-interfaces/itrack-pocket

iTrack Solo - no 5 pin MIDI I/O
http://us.focusrite.com/ios-audio-interfaces-usb-audio-interfaces/itrack-solo

Scarlet 2i2 - no 5 pin MIDI I/O

mordecai

Sounds like I still made a good purchase. I am more focused on preamp quality right now as I am gearing up to do a lot of recording. By the end of it I'll probably already have a pretty automated/smoothed out processes for when I am ready to go on stage with things. A big draw to both the 18i8 and iconnectaudio4+ for me was the ability to use them as a mixer as well. This one unit replaced 3 of my pieces of gear, some a bit redundant but still. I no longer need my Lexicon Omega, Behringer 1202FX USB(which works with iPad), or the Focusrite iTrack. Thanks for the response!

I'm not finding much to love about the IConnectaudio4+ - it has a poor noise floor and simply does not provide the same output drive voltage level or the superior audio performance I come to expect from pro gear  - like the Focusrite Scarlett series or

iTrack Dock

Disappointed to hear about the noise floor with the iConnectaudio4. It is very much a unique device.

Pretty disappointed too, I had hoped that these guys would turn out to be a major competitor to the usual suspects.

I remember them saying they're from the telecom industry. Maybe that's not such a good thing, after all?  ;)

iConnectivity iConfig for AUDIO is a companion app to iConnectivity's audio interfaces. iConnectivity iConfig for AUDIO provides access to the highly flexible MIDI and AUDIO features of the iConnectivity Audio interfaces connected to your system.

Note: There is a known issue with iPad Air2 which is being investigated. Unfortunately the app will not function properly with iPad Air2.
