Title: VG-99 Patches?
Post by: Greensandblues@gmail.com on July 22, 2022, 03:46:51 PM
Hey Folks:

I can't seem to find a place to download patches, just posts that contain MID files and MP3 files.  I'm probably missing something, but where can I try out other peoples patches in *.g9e format?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Trevor

You can browse the patch exchange:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?board=35.0

Or you can use the Attachment Browser feature, which lets you pick & choose what you want to browse.  Check out the Attachment Browser here (or click on Attachments in the main menu):
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=attbr;sa=all

Once there, you can click on the "Filter By" button to filter them.

Note that those .mid files are another way of sharing patches.  Follow the link provided above to figure out how to load them.  If you filter for for .mid & .g9e in the Attachment Browser, it will look like this:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=attbr;sa=filter;start=0;sort=downloads;desc;fileexts=g9e,mid;tags=VG-99

Or if you want to look at .g9e only:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=attbr;sa=filter;start=0;sort=downloads;desc;fileexts=g9e;tags=VG-99

You can click on the "Search Again" button at the bottom of the list to refine your search.

You definitely want to import and audition patches using the .MID format - the g9e format will literally wipe over your entire patch library - it's way faster and easier to audition single patches in your first 100 patches on the 99 this way.

Use the VG-99 editor.

Under FILE select IMPORT SMF and point to a patch that looks interesting.

If you find it more interesting than the current patch in your 99 you can just save it over what is currently there.

Mooncaine on this forum created a video showing how to back up your patch library once you get it to a point where you've got a lot of good sounds:
