Does anyone know of a source for the white plastic 8-Pin header connectors used by Roland, Fishman, etc. to connect the divided pickup cable to the preamp boards?  I need a few of them, so used/broken GK's is not a good option.  Thanks for any help.

Review the Parts List, where all part numbers are listed.

For example here is the GK-3 Internal Pickup 8 pin connector for the internal GK-3 Preamp PC board.

You will locate :
"F3417191  B8B-ZR JST  P=1.5 8P CONNECTOR CN2 on Main Board"

this breaks down to

"F3417191"  =  Roland Part Number F3417191

"B8B-ZR JST" = J.S.T. Part Number "B8B-ZR"(LF)(SN)

"P=1.5 8P CONNECTOR CN2 on Main Board" = Description of part type and where used. This is a 8 pin White connector with 1.5mm pitch single Inline Connector sourced from J.S.T.

Google Search on "B8B-ZR JST"

Gets you to  Digikey:

Digikey Part Number # 455-1663-ND
J.S.T. # B8B-ZR"(LF)(SN)

The ONLY connector on GK-KIT-GT-3 Internal preamp board with a 1.5mm pitch is the HEX PUP connector ...All others are 2mm

Here are all the connector Part numbers from DigiKey (thanks to member "oscope")

To assemble all the above,  the Futaba/Engineer Model PA-09 Crimpers work on these small crimp pins for the Roland / Line-6 Connectors

The price varies
http://www.amazon.com/Engineer-PA-09-Micro-Connector-Crimpers/dp/B002AVVO7K

I bought mine here 3 years ago  - $59
http://store.iheartengineering.com/ihe-0a00-0001-0000.html
The price might seem high, but remember the "official" crimping tool for these connectors typically runs several hundred dollars.

Another option is locate a local advanced Radio Control Car/Truck/Plane Club or Robotic Control Hobbyist, as many of those guys seem to own a pair of Engineer PA-09 Crimpers in their tool crib, because all the servo motors use these same type connectors.

Also - Many third party Molex,TTI,Amp,Hirose,JST,JAL, Oupiin, etc, "2mm pitch single row connectors" are all cross compatible

Elantric, thank you so very much!  That is exactly what I was looking for.  I have lots of the 2mm parts on various scrap boards, I just figured this high density connector was some specialty item.  Glad to see Digikey has them.  It's funny, I'd already found & been through the threads w/ the schematics, since I'd needed that info as well, but I missed the parts list somehow... duh

If you do the math - its often cheaper to buy 8 pin 1.5mm JST connectors from an Asian vendor on Ebay

Micro JST 1.5 ZH 8-Pin Connector Plug w/.Wire x 10 sets $7.29 - free shipping - should arrive in 10 days to USA.

I was moving my GK3 kit from one bass to another and I broke two connectors.  I have noticed these same connectors on one of my other pre-amps so I know they are generic.  Anyone have any ideas on where I can source some replacements?  (See attachment)

If it's of any help to know..
I stock 14-pin for GR-55 & GP-10 input jack-to-main board, 7 & 8-pin for GK jack-to-pre-amp board, & (the smaller) 8-pin for GK pickup-to-pre-amp board....   ...plus the crimp connectors for all of these.
PM me if you can't find what you want.

The big deal about the official Roland Gk13 pin jack below is the large chrome area just behind the front face of the jack - this grips the large circular Ground connection on the DIN 13 plug and makes a good ground connection that is often lacking on other DIN 13 jacks

FWIW, I stock all these connectors and their applicable crimp pins..for both the GK2A & GK3 pickups and the 13-pin jack connection to the associated mainboard.

Also have the 14-way ones that are used within the GR-55 & the GP-10 for 13-pin jack connection to the PCB.

PM me for details if this helps anyone... :-*

Cheers,
Peter

Refer to my other post(s) on this thread..

https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=34857.msg259143#msg259143

The GK3 pickup already has a 1.5mm pitch connector which suits the receptacle on a GK3 board.

If you trying to connect a GK3 pickup to a GK2A board (and I have truly forgotten just what it is you are trying to accomplish), it is going to need to be converted to an 8-pole 2.00mm pitch connector.

You should also be aware that the signal strength of a GK3 pickup  (lower strength) does not suit the componentry of a GK2A board (which expecting a stronger signal from a GK2A pickup)

..a mis-match of these pickups vs mainboards could/may give you problems.

I think all these things have now been talked about many times...it's your choice what you do.....YMMV.

Thanks yeah...this was actaully a separate question to that thread. I just need a replacement pre-wired header for a GK3 that i can solder to the pickups, so i was wondering if this ebay link is for the correct part.

And my comment/reply was to highlight that depending upon what you want to connect to what, a 1.5mm pitch connector might NOT be what you need.  The 1.5mm pitch connector will ONLY plug into the GK3 mainboard...

....and separately, a mis-match between the pickup and the mainboard could also cause you problems.

Thanks again. So just to confirm, that ebay part is correct as a replacement for a GK3 Kit (GK3 to GK3 kit board).

The 8 pin one. Yes.

Hi everybody in Hexed-Land:-)
I'm going to obtain a crimper tool and pins to recycle the many hex PuPs that I have accumulated over the years.
This crimper tool from Amazon doesn't actually have a 1.5 mm jaw and the GK3 and the Fishman triple play hex PuPs have the single row 1.5 mm pitch connectors.
It is the same tool part number and manufacturer...does this 1.6 mm jaw work properly with a 1.5 mm crimp pin?
Thanks
Al
p.s. The one in the poster is blue and the one of the Amazon is orange maybe that's the difference:-)

Yes...the 'Engineer' PA-9 lets you see what you are doing more easily, and is (IMHO) more ergonomic..
...if you're into replaceable die sets, the Engineer PAD-11 is the one.  Beautifully made and very workable.

When you are crimping onto (say) short-length exposed conductors coming out of a screened cable, the last thing you need is a 'clumpy' crimper....let alone one where you have to crane your neck to see if the conductor is correctly positioned before you pull the trigger.

YMMV, but that is what works for me... ;)

Peter

Do you have magnet coil pickup inside the gk3 Divided pickup?
