Hi, there people thought I should share some of my new findings.

Bought myself an iPad for my music related stuff. First and formost for remote controll of my mixers. Also bought the Camera Connection Kit and to my surprise it works very well with the VG-99 in standard USB mode (Just audio, no MIDI). I've been using it to record ideas in Garageband and it has been terrific for getting down ideas and demos. Much less hassle than anything I've tried on Mac and PC. It just works. MIDI stuff gets recorded through the MIDI-connections of my Behringer BCR2000. PS. Using the VG-99 with a Hub creates loads of trouble, so use it straight into the CCK.

Last night I found this little beauty of an app: http://loopyapp.com/
Great app for those who have no extra money to spare on a RC300. One of the best loopers I have tried and totally configurable with MIDI-control and everything. I use it in conjuntion with this handy little pedal, http://www.ploytec.com/34oneII/, which I bought as a masterclock for my MIDI stuff. Tap the tempo and the looper starts. Turn off the pedal and the looper stops. All in time with the clock.

Run the FC-300 in CC mode and you can assign pedals to functions using the easy to read interface.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

Thanks for the Loopy App info and the iPad USB info.  Bought loopy for my iphone and will play with it soonly.  Food for thought for sure.

Added a Presonus AudioBox 22 VSL to the setup. Rids me of the rather bulky Behringer BCR2000 for MIDI and provides a faster audio route for the VG. Good pre-amps and hands-on gain/volume controls. Needs a powered hub to work.

That's very cool! Thank you. But still I'm not getting how I could communicate mdi CC messages to the Loopy HD (via FC 300 for instance) while connected to the VG via CCK as the VG must be set on USB standard mode in which only audio will be handled...

QuoteMIDI stuff (from the VG-99) gets recorded (to the iPad with CCK + Powered USB Hub) through the MIDI-connections of my Behringer BCR2000.

(USB Audio from the VG-99 gets into the iPad / GarageBand using the iPad+CCK with the VG-99's USB Driver Mode set in "Standard Mode")
Using the VG-99 with a Hub creates loads of trouble, so use it straight into the CCK.

See Page 72 of the Roland VG-99 User manual for details

Someone with free time and an iPad +CCK should see if the GR-55 could also work in this manner?

That's why I bought an AudioBox for connecting my VG. Running MIDI from VG MIDI-out to the Audiobox and audio from the XLRs.
