My first try with SY300 triggered by a fretless nylon acoustic

SY300 fretless nylon acoustic with a transducer piezo into a TC dist/ bost

I play Country music too, I'm just not sure which country it's from...

The guitar signal is present right? Would have been interesting to see how the synth part alone would sound, the fretless guitar special attack makes an interesting synth sound.
Good music as usual.

Brak(E)man

Yes it's present.
The acoustic body of the fretless
affects the sound even more, not
entirely in a good way though
I'll see if I can post the synth alone

I'm letting the open strings ring when I'm playing here

Now I'm not certain I should keep the sound of the guitar in the mix :-?

The body "attack" is easy to get rid of when mixing , a high pass filter would do it.

For live use and with guitar mixed in it doesn't bother me.

The song is for an upcoming album with solo playing
Fretless guitar, Oud, Sarod and maybe Sitar

After playing and tweaking a bit more I can say that this is the best solution so far
playing nylon acoustic and " triggering " synths.
I always wanted a solution where I can mix the acoustic sound with synth.
This works like a beaut. live or recording.
The downside is the polyphony, as mentioned numerous times.
But the response and the seamless connection between guitar and SY
takes this to a new level. Pitch to midi doesn't cut it IMO ( at least not yet ).

Interesting result, when its not present the real guitar in the mix, the sound becomes a somewhat magical and unheard synth sound...
But if the album is a Fretless guitar, Oud, Sarod and maybe Sitar, then maybe that pure synth maybe not totally related, but in this case dont forget that amazing synth sound in the attic.

Yes, they are VERY different things.
Unfortunately it was too dirty, sandy and noisy the resulting sound to my taste and music, and returned it, never done that before with any Roland device.
I'm still not sure if I could have done with it. The fact that he was so temperamental, so dependent on the guitar  used, he threw me back, because I had a hard time having a predictable result.
But it seems to work very good in your context

It's dirty when playing intervals and chords apart from fifths and octaves
( why they took away the hex is beyond me )
When played as solo synth it can be very smooth and round sounding.
I mixed in some breathy noise here to contrast the nylon string.

And using it with different guitars or instruments means programming for one at the time.

And I had my moments when I thought of returning it.

Having listened again to the synth on its own and realizing that the performance of the synth is unprecedented. ( Not mine )
Not even Jan Hammer would be able to keep up with the pitch bend on a keyboard based
synth.
and the synth and the guitar strings are one.
What a misfortune not to make a hexaphonic SY-600 , shame on you Roland/Boss  >:(
