Title: Looking For A Joness GK Expander
Post by: Lefty on September 15, 2015, 12:11:11 PM
Does anyone know where I can pick up one of these (or something similar)? I just picked up a GR55 and would like to use it's amp modeling/effects with my normal 1/4" guitars as well.

Thanks!

Review the alternatives here:

There are DIY solutions

And if you have a Roland US-20 I can add a Guitar Input for the 13 pin feed into GR-55, without drilling holes in the GR-55.

Another option is my new GKFX-21 filter as it has a regular input jack with volume control. The fact it is a subsonic filter does not harm assuming you have not mounted the GK upside down or play bass. However not the cheapest solution $120 + shipping (GK cable included). Also allows a powered FS-6 or FS-7 to be connected for external S1/S2 control. GP-10 Yellow metallic paint.

Vintage Roland Guitar Synthesizer Resource Site Relaunch.
The Vintage Roland Guitar Synthesizer Resource Site has been relaunched with updated information, modern code, and fresh content.

While the site may look the same to long time users, the biggest change is the modern, mobile-friendly platform with responsive content that will look great on desktop, tablet, or mobile devices. This change has been in works for months, and also includes improved support for the huge selection of images and embedded YouTube videos on the site.

Now that the site has been revamped, I will return to regular updates, with more details on classic Roland guitar synths and info on the newer technology synths as well.

Visit the Vintage Roland Guitar Synthesizer Resource Site
New on the site for August 2017:
GR-300 Synthcheck  - A detailed 2000 word review from "The Complete Music Magazine", dated November 1980
Gibson Explorer  - Finally! A home for one of the rarer custom Gibson vintage Roland guitar synth controllers
Jimmy Page - Vintage 1985 magazine ad featuring the guitar legend and his G-707/GR-700 rig!
LPK-1 Installation Diagram thanks to John Doucette for emailing the scans.
GK-20 Schematic - 13-pin Guitar Switcher, Schematic ready for download
Filter/Buffer Schematic - Schematic ready for download.

Happy Birthday VG-99! Ten Years and Counting for the GR-300 Software Emulation! Lost VG-99 Promotional DVD now Available Again!
Roland shipped the first VG-99 synthesizers about ten years ago. The revolutionary VG-99 offered something unavailable for nearly twenty years: the sound of the Roland GR-300!  In Japan, Roland released a free Promotional DVD. This DVD has been unavailable, but I have posted the entire contents of the 26 minute DVD to YouTube.

Visit the VG-99 page for more details.
