I just picked up a POD HD500 to use with my GR-55 and I am having trouble making it do what I want it to do. The sounds are great but I want it to do things like have a solo switch and change from amp A to amp B. I may be used to Roland gear but I want to know if any POD HD500 users have done anything like this and if there are some more programing tips for this thing?

Here is an important read on pros and cons of HD500

And here a comparison of HD500 vs GT100 - (too bad its the old pre "2.0' firmware on GT100)

I found some workarounds for the HD500 that might be helpful....
1. switching between amp models- use the panning effect to pan your guitar from amp to amp with expression pedal.
2. solo boost- use a EQ after the amp to boost the frequencies you need.

It is completely different from Roland gear and Roland has way more parameters than line 6 for expression.

This the old..

Input 2 = Same/Guitar/Mic

I remember it vaguely. You had to "null" the second input to stop the models overdriving, which in turn, made using Stereo chains a total nightmare.

I'd need to find the 60 page forum thread on it again and familiarise myself... but then again, the POD is back in its box now, so I probably won't. ;)

exactly!

following here is the link to the old archived thread on the archived Line6 forum:
What every HD500 owner needs to know!

https://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/74045/

the above thread has been stuck for ages on the front page of the POD HD forum, thus probably read by thousands people, and IMO it would not have been there, if it had not been implicitly approved by the Line 6 staff..

I also wrote a post on my POD HD forum website with more analysis and details on this topic:

I didn't remember your name, but I think I did find and read your signal path thread.... or something very like it... Path A and B are each split to Stereo past the splitter... A-Left, A-Right, B-Left and B-Right... so you have 4 Channels, that Line6 forgot to mention in their manual....

It's all coming back... total nightmare.
