Howdy folks,
I am waiting on a GT1 to arrive and I am already looking to the next thing 😅
Sorry if this has already been answered or Im asking a stupid question.

I took a break from electric guitar around 5 years ago, sold my pod hd500x and Jamman looper pedal and stuck to acoustic since then. (So I have a vague idea on what I want to achieve)
I am almost certain the limited looper function on the gt1 is going to annoy me, and I plan to hook it up to my computer and use a software looper instead.
A quick check around and I am surprised on the lack of cheap midi foot switches I could use to trigger the looper functions on my computer.
So here's my question - If I get a, lets say jamman fsx3 pedal, is there a way to program one or more of the switches to send a signal through the GT1 usb interface as a midi signal to control the looper plugin?

If this is a no go - anyone got any suggestions? preferably at least 2 pedals, and very cheap  ;)

Btw, this is a pure practice at home and noodle around situation, not in any way professional or anything - I just really enjoyed my old looper, being able to have more options like undo/redo, save recordings, etc

I am not really in the market for one of the expensive 8+ switch with presets etc, just a simple. 2 or 3 buttons I can map to a looper plugin...
So I've done a bit more research since posting - sorry I should have done that first. From what I can tell the unit does indeed send midi through the usb interface - so I'm guessing it should be possible to map the signals coming from CTL 2 & 3 (I will probably get a jamman fs3x as it's only €30)

I am fairly certain the GT-1 does not map any midi cc# functions to the CTL pedals.

Maybe look at one of those cheap 2 or 3 button Bluetooth midi footswitch devices, on your computer you can load in a KORG BLE driver which translates BLE Bluetooth devices to be "seen" by Windows as a regular midi device.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have seen those cheep bluetooth controllers, and for noodling around adding effects and things, I think I wouldn't mind about any potential latency, but for trying to be accurate looping Im not so sure.
I was quite into home studio stuff 20 (!) years ago, and I can't really believe there is no dirt cheap midi foot switch, it's such a basic thing.. you can even get keyboard or drum pads for far cheaper than any foot switches 😣

Anyway, I just got the GT-1, and I hooked it up, and Im seeing sysEx signals coming through - I'm going to look at some software to map/transform and see if there's a way.
To be honest, I see it clearly that Im trying to fit a square in a round hole here and I should really just invest in an overpriced midi foot switch - but now I'm just annoyed by the state of available options so Im on a mission to get this working.

p.s Also my reasoning for going so out of my way to not spend a lot, or get extra equipment is: I am putting this set up together to be a very minimal and easy to way just to mess around and have a bit of fun from my home office desk - I am mainly an acoustic player, I just thought it would be fun to have a small loop set up from my desk, without investing too much.

I don't think you will notice any latency in a BLE Bluetooth midi footswitch, at about 20ms, not like the audio Bluetooth protocol suffers from.

Important reading for GT-1 MIDI Control

It has very limited MIDI TRANSMISSION  , not suitable as a REMOTE MIDI controller for a laptop based looper

The Primovasound Sound MIDX-20  is one path to provide the missing 5 PIN MIDI I/O

Bluetooth devices (eg foot switches) can be used to control the main features.

Set Lists of songs can be loaded which will ensure that the correct patch is loaded for each song as you progress through your performance.

Connection Requirements:
In order to connect your phone or tablet to your GT-1 you will require:
- A Boss GT-1 guitar effects processor
- A USB cable suited to your GT-1 (often sold as USB 'printer' cables)
- An OTG cable adapter
- Your Android device must support OTG / 'Host Mode' (most modern phones do)
