Is there any difference between the technology?

I am tying to figure out which devices this is.
I am guessing VG-99 HRM instrument modeling (circa 2007) vs GR-55 HRM modeling (circa 2011)

Only small incremental improvements which might not be noticeable.

As far as I'm concerned the gr 55 uses the same tech as the vg 99, just as a slightly more stripped down module.

As for the 2007 vg strat vs 2012, what's the point? Almost more of a reissue. 2012 is Mexican while 2007 is USA I believe?

They could have used the new model to add more features. At least more alt tunings, or programmable ones. Just don't understand introducing the 2012 vg like it's new tech.

Advertising hype is something I don't buy into, distorted truths and fluff.
I always try to find the facts and specifications.

It's just weird because it's so close together, just 5 years. The same exact technology just made in mexico, and a few design changes. No new DSP, no new features. I would kill for a full VG-99 featured guitar.

Would be good,
you won't get a VG-99 to fit into a guitar,
but I should imagine someone determined might be able to shoehorn in a GP-10.
Remount the main board and display, install an internal GK-kit,
remove the main board audio & GK connectors and rewire,
rebuild the switch PCB into knobs and buttons on the pickguard,
install 9 volts of LiPo battery.
mount the EXP pedal potentiometer to the whammy bar, or install a Bluetooth receiver and use the Boss wireless EXP pedal or midi controller.

Technologically wise Roland could put a VG-99 system in a guitar. There's no way that system can't fit into a motherboard small enough for a guitar cavity, now. That's my issue with why the VG strat didn't have upgrades.

If the VG strat had the same features as the Variax, it would kill. Programmable tunings, all the models, custom patches. I looked into the VG-99 editor and I didn't know it had an EQ section as well, that would be so useful.

None

I looked more and I noticed the 2012 model has different models in the acoustic settings. It includes the jazz box guitar and the sitar.

Maybe same technology, but different models for those.

It's nice they added more variation, but it would have been better to just expand the selection to be as big, or at least closer to a Variax.
