Been busy over Christmas incorporating all my V-guitar boxes into a stand alone pedal board that links back to a rack via a simple umbilical (4 x stereo signal + USB for MIDI). Just a few small details to finish off. Have repurposed an old drum tripod to support the VG99. Originally I had the Quadboard (distributing 4 x GK outputs) also mounted in the rack but it seemed a sensible idea to move it onto the pedalboard itself.

Biggest issue I have is that each unit requires a different version of Mac OSX MIDI drivers to allow it to run the Roland/Boss editors. Is there a way around this issue? In the rack there's an ancient Roland XV-3080. Can anyone recommend an editor for it?

What a setup! Fantastic.
The XV3080 (I used one several years ago) has its own Editor from Roland :

Regarding the Mac OS X Drivers conundrum you could add a MIDI Interface and run MIDI Cables from VG99 and SY1000 to It (so you won't need any drivers for MIDI except the MIDI Interface) that leaves the GP10 out but with the addition of a Roland UM-one MKII USB to MIDI Interface attached to a Raspberry (consult the GP10 section of the forum for details) you can convert USB Host to MIDI or even better you can add Primova sound  MIDX20 https://www.primovasound.com/products/midx20/index.php.

It's a complex setup to achieve. Here https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=33788.msg249881#msg249881 there's a great post about using Crossover software on VG99.

In any case if you need to avoid multiple drivers that shouldn't be a problem (I have GP10 and VG99 running on the same machine with Mac OSX 10.14) but since SY1000 only Catalina works so VG99 has been left out (no drivers but you can make it work as explained in the above link - requires a Roland UM-One MKII).

Let us know what MacOS Version you are on. That can help.
If the XV Editor is too old to run on modern OS you can use a VM (Virtual Box) with Windows XP SP3 (legit download from software archives)

Hope it helps

Very cool setup! A Roland/Boss showcase...

I'm running Monterey (OSX 12.1) on a MacMini (2018) Intel and I have the
SY-1000 Tone Studio (driver from Boss says MacOS 11),
GP-10 Tone Studio (driver from Boss says MacOS 10.15), and
GR-55 Floorboard (driver from Roland says MacOS 10.15) all running.

I've done nothing special to get them to work other than re-download the drivers from the websites and install them after the OS upgrade.

I usually run the SY-1000 and GR-55 editors simultaneously because I have the two of them linked together with audio and Midi.

I've never had a VG-99, so I can't say anything about the last version of MacOS that it works with...I would think that whatever the last version that works for the VG-99 will work for the others ("oldest common denominator"?).

VG99 stops with 10.14.
No drivers for 10.15 and editor is 32 bit so on 10.15 no editor (10.15 rejects 32 bit apps).

Vg99 is and will be the limiting factor for current and future setups based on Intel and beyond 10.14 or any Apple Silicon based. However with the link I posted in the previous reply it's possible to have at least the VG99 editor working at a little price.
Any great floorboard editor from Gumtown is a good alternative when you can use a MIDI to USB interface as Roland UM One MKII.

Hope it helps

Thanks for your replies. In an ideal world I would have one computer running both editing and audio software but I realise that won't work. I'm curently running Mac OSX 10.9 on a very old iMac (early 2009) on which I have the editors for the GP10, GR55 and VG99 but not the SY1000 of course. It sits on top of the rack. I have a second, younger, iMac (late 2014) which runs 10.14 Mojave and has Logic Pro for the audio signals via an audio interface. I don't want to upgrade this machine any further as it will stop many of my legacy programmes, such as Excel, from running and I don't want to lose that ability. Looks like I should be using the 5 pin MIDI connections on the VG99, GR55, SY1000 and Big Sky but will need to add 8 x MIDI cables to the umbilical beteen the rack and the floorboard. They will then feed into a MOTU Midi Express.
