I'm just wondering if anyone has encountered and solved the problem of the severe hit the guitar tone takes when plugging (the guitar's pickups) into the GK-2a. Is using the shortest 13 pin chord a complete solution? I've been forced to use two separate chords: one for the GK-2 and a separate 1/4" jack straight from the guitar to the amp.

There's an opamp (pre-amplifier) in the GK2 that buffers the normal guitarsignal. Not all guitar(pickups) like this.
Using a seperate cable like you allready do is the only way to avoid this.
The lenght of the Gk cable will not have that much effect: the opampoutput is rather low-impedant to avoid cableloss and crosstalk, that is the reason it is build in in the first place.
