Hello, I'm a composer for TV and film and I'm hoping to find an inexpensive and efficient option for getting notes into the sequencer (Logic Pro) from a guitar-like controller. I write orchestral midi music and I'm a much better guitarist (actually bassist) than I am pianist. I've found these to be my best option so far:
You Rock Guitar URG-1000
Yamaha EZ-AG
Yamaha EZ-EG

Welcome Mark,

Of your choices - the You Rock is best  - i own two.

But if you require ability to string bend, and record many more types of MIDI events, you should consider a Roland GR-55.
If you are on a powerful Mac based setup  - the KMI StringPort is worth looking at.

We have users here familiar will all types,

Myself - i will use the You Rock Guitar and  USB cable to make basic tabs and notation using Guitarpro 6

and YRG works well with Garageband and Logic, and Sibelius - provided you never need to capture string bends ( YRG does not support this.)

. . . the future ain't what it used to be . . .

Thats very impressive  8) would love to do this my-self (may-be someday  :P )

Hi markfraser  ;D Welcome to FGN
I can't help with your options you are asking about (but sure others will thou) Just wanna say Good-Ay !

I use Logic Pro with VG-99 & Virus Ti Synth & heaps of NI stuff, etc etc

If your more of a Bass player, the GR-55 would work nicely (as Elantric quoted) as it takes Bass as well. Would need this to thou...

Wow thanks for all the feedback. (hehe - no pun intended)

I checked out the VG-99 & GR-55 they both look pretty great - They might be a bit more than I need though (feature and pricewise). I'm on a pretty tight budget - hoping for $200 or less.

I was reading about the Sonuus G2M, some sites said it doesn't always convert to midi correctly and you have to EQ the incoming signal for best results. So I started thinking a 'button on the fretboard' guitar controller method might be more fool-proof.

Yeah I love the NI stuff too!

Here are a few tracks i've been working on:
They both took me awhile to play into Logic on a keyboard controller. - then spending forever fixing all the wrong notes and timing problems.

So cool to be chatting with folks from all over the world - ah the modern age..
