You bet. It sounds great to begin with. I put a flat wound .52 set on it and tuned the guitar to open C. This way I can still sound at least some major chords with accuracy along the neck. Lots of opportunities. I was playing with a patch that has the lower 2 strings voiced as crunch tone with HB tone and the top 4 voiced as a Resonator. Lots of fun.

It would make a lot of sense to offer the Sustainiac installation as an option on your 3 voiced guitar. All the best.

Excellent job MCK.

Looks like there is a lot of fun to be had with your new project.

Well done!  NICE!  now _I_ want a fretless ;-)

MCK-fgn

Vance thanks!!! You really want one. Its so much fun. And low cost too. If you have any bolt on neck guitar that you don't care so much about you're already halfway there. Just get a MIM Strat neck from eBay and de-fret it. Very easy job. If you want to go quality you can get a Moser neck and get your luthier to fit it of course.

Guys, I'm looking to sell this guitar now. I have gone overboard and accumulated too many guitars with too much overlap. The word hoarder is often heard in my home which I don't like much! I need to start reducing and this one is the first to go simply because I know I can easily build another one if I ever wanted!!!

Please let me know if you are interested.

Hey  MCK  nice  job.

Maybe  FGN  should  have  a  for  sale  section.....Just  a  thought !!

Q....Is it made in Mexico  by  Mexicans  or  made  in USA  by Mexicans ?  ;D

Q....Hows  the  tracking  on  this , being  fretless , with  VG-99 ?

Just  curious......I  was  thinking  that  a  Roland  ready  strat  might  be  my  next  guitar
but  would  prefer  with  frets.

Or  even  chuck  a  GK-3  onto  something.....
Cheers

Q... What kind of advice can you give me ?   Tommy Emmanuel's reply ....

You move your hand Up and Down that long bit and the music comes out of that Big Black Box behind you !!

Hey there. I think these are made in Mexico by the Mexicans who are left behind holding the fort.

When I bought this guitar my plan was to mess with the MIM neck and then buy a decent neck for it but I liked the fretless quite a bit so I ended up keeping it as is though. Whoever ends up with it can go either way I suppose. Strat necks are plenty on eBay or through sources like Warmoth etc so to put on a real decent strat neck should not be a problem.

I re-radiused the current neck to 12 to make it a little flatter compared to what it was before (I think 9.5). 12 is what you have on your DF.

The GK2 on this unit tracks real well. I never had a problem with it or my other GK2/3 equipped guitars.

Not trying to sound like a hard sell but... I tune this guitar to Open C. So if you just put your first finger on all strings you get a major chord. Using the Sustaininac and my finger I can get amazing slide guitar sounds & playing out of this guitar without actually putting in the hours to master the real thing! Problem with the fretless is that you occasionally play it and it sits waiting for most of the time.

Just realized I forgot to list the Sperzels I put on that guitar...

No worries. Curiosity is what moves human-race forward day in day out!

Vanceg is above us mere mortals. He has bigger & better fish he is frying (re. ergonomic guitars)...

Thanks for your kind words. I'm just a bored salary-man with an understanding family!  :)

HA!  Thanks for those kind words!  This looks like great work. I'd love to play around with this fretless someday.

The luthier that I'm working with here in Seattle just finished a SWEET fretless and I'm really temped to try some fretless designs.

Right now, though, I am working on two new ergonomic instruments. One headless, one 'with head'.   More details will be flowing later this month..... As soon as I get a few minutes to write stuff down (I'm also trying to get my video systems design company off the ground and act as the tech director of the Decibel Festival here in Seattle this month. Whew.  I thought this "quit your job and go independent" thing meant 'time freedom'. HA!).

I look forward to feedback from the group here at FGN on these new instruments (one is for me, one is for a FGN member).   Who knows, maybe when y'all see these two new guitars, someone else on the list might want one for themselves.  (Each one has to be unique...there will be no "make me exactly the same thing" orders.)

The 2 guitars you're working on sound real exciting. I'm sure they will turn out beautiful. You can always order a 2nd neck to go fretless occasionally I suppose. It doesn't take much to swap a neck when needed.

Wishing you all the best in your new professional endevours.
