Thanks for trying it out, OMG !! fugly looking at that resolution.  :o  :o  :o
I have just uploaded a new Windows version right now, been working on upgrading the framework from Qt5.15.2 to Qt6.5.0
which meant some coding changes, mostly in the stability of widgets and control layouts.
The new Qt6.5.0 version has more rigid placeholders for those objects to be at a fixed size,
I would be very interested to see how todays update looks on your Surface.

Ignore the Tuner looks for now,  :P
I knocked up the graphics using crude old Windows paint,
as my other computer with Photoshop has been unavailable while I have been on the road.

This new version seems to have a few issues on some types of patch loading, which has been a historic issue with the Mac version, so need a bit of debugging there while making the transition to a higher development environment.

Cheers  8)

Attached are screenshots of a few more glitches.

On the ASSIGN image, the only glitch I see is the dial in lower right.

I have just realized the past two updates have been packaging the wrong & same old version,
fixed it now, so if you have downloaded SY-1000FloorBoard for Windows in the past two weeks,
 un-install the current one,
 download the latest and enjoy.

Will do. I tried the 2nd "newest" version and I didn't notice a difference 😀

The latest Windows version should read "20230523" along the top title bar, also with the current operating mode shown.

Excuse my ignorance, but is the SY-1000 editor ready for the average user, or is it still in the not-quite-ready-yet phase?

I just tried version 20230523 and it looks a lot better.

The attached screenshots are with the DPI setting as indicated in the compatibility dialog. I'm not sure if or how much difference that makes.

Yes it is ready for the average user, fully functional.
The recent work is mostly aimed at extended features, like loading/converting patches for the GT-1000, Sy-300, GP-10, VG-99 and VB-99.
You can also import/export SY-1000 patches for the opposite mode (Guitar mode can import and export Bass mode patches which Tone Studio can not do)

That's wonderful and very much appreciated!

Just updated a new Windows version (20230525), fixed some stuff broken by the framework upgrade.
Added file loading for VG-99 *.mid SMF Exports from the Roland VG-99 Librarian app,
 of bulk patch backup files.

I'm looking forward to it!

However, the latest windows installer exe on sourceforge was built 5/24 and self-reports as version 20230524.

version 20230524 is near enough, that's what happens when the app is compiled before midnight, and then uploaded shortly after than.

Hi,

Sourceforge project info page says this program is a graphical editor for the Boss SY-1000 , Roland VG-99 guitar and VB-99. But I can't make it work with my VG-99, the program always says "offline" (no matter the options I try). Are there specific instructions to run the program as an editor for the VG-99?

Thanks a lot in advance.

There are different programs for each different device, for the VG-99, you need to download "VG-99FloorBoard" from here
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sy1000floorboard/files/VG99FloorBoard/

After installed, you will also require the VG-99 USB driver installed from the Roland site.
Then run VG-99FloorBoard, open the Preferences/Midi-USB menu and select "VG-99" as the midi in/out device, and press OK.
The app will restart and hopefully the "connect" button will be lit, and patch names populate the left side panel,
and the current VG-99 patch populate the editor GUI.

Just d/l'ed the latest linux build. So far so good. It starts, it finds the SY-1000, it scrapes all the patch names... I'm doing a bulk dump save right now and it's just churning right along. Happiness is.   :D

Cool !! It will take quite a while, the patch size is quite large, and 200 of them amounts to a large file (as far as sysx midi goes).

The bulk save went ok.  I then tried to open a .tsl I downloaded from the forum and save it to the SY. It appeared to work, but the "I'm busy" spinning cursor never went away. I tried to change patches on the SY, and soon as I hit the footswitch the floorboard UI vanished and the following showed up in my kernel message log:

[Sat Jun  3 23:47:40 2023] SY-1000FloorBoa[412132]: segfault at 5c00000000 ip 000000000042b3d6 sp 00007fff70efa718 error 4 in SY-1000FloorBoard[400000+1e65000] likely on CPU 2 (core 2, socket 0)
[Sat Jun  3 23:47:40 2023] Code: fe ff 48 8b 3b e9 c9 fe ff ff 48 89 c5 eb bf 48 89 c5 eb b1 48 89 c5 eb be 48 89 c5 eb 9e 66 0f 1f 44 00 00 48 8b 06 48 89 07 <8b> 10 85 d2 74 14 83 fa ff 74 7e f0 83 00 01 0f 95 c2 c3 0f 1f 80

Looks there's still some issues there.

[addendum] If I ignore the spinny cursor and keep my hands off the SY, I can select another patch slot on the floorboard UI, load another .tsl file, and write to that patch. Lather rinse repeat, it's worked for a half dozen patch file loads. That'll keep me going for now while you chase down the UI hiccup.  Cool! :D

I was having nothing but trouble with this on my main DAW computer (W11, 64 GB RAM, etc.), while the GR-55 Floorboard had no problem.

I installed the latest SY-1000 Floorboard on a mini-computer i5 Win 11 and it works great! Thanks so much for the work. I'm looking forward to programming some synths and guitar sounds.

SY-1000 floorboard refuses to connect to my SY-1000. I'm on 20230524 and Windows 11 (latest build). I've selected the SY-1000 in/out in preferences and debug mode is unchecked. The boss Sy-1000 editor opens fine. Any ideas?
