Suppose another way to ask the question - does their software editor talk to the Katana via some system-exclusive scheme, or simply thru midi commands?

Any insights welcome....
Its does - there are "MIDI over USB" User  control assignments in the MKII Boss Tone Studio for MIDI CC# for toggling FX on.off

- but Katana MKII  remains non USB Class compliant  - so other means are necessary

Kenton won't work.
If the MIDX-20 (http://primovasound.com/midx_20.html) can't interface 5-pin DIN MIDI to any the MKII I eat my hat (actually bought one in Aussieland some years ago, it's covered with dead flies and insects only Gumbo knows about).
However no new MIDX-20 units available until beginning 2020.

But I anticipate your efforts are required  on the MIDX-20 firmware side to fully support the brand new Katana Mark II SYSEX structure

We know Gumtown has reported they changed many addresses on the Katana MKII - observe he does not have a Katana MK 2 FX Floorboard Editor - yet

GUMTOWN WROTE>
Katana MK2 - Gumtown's Katana MK2 FxFloorBoard Editor

The Katana MK2 has a very different internal memory/address structure from the predecessor.
It is a departure from the GT-100 address layout which the GT-1/GT-1B also used.

The structure is much more compacted, with all the GT deadwood chopped out, a patch data file is now less than half the size of a Mk1 Katana.
The *.tsl files from "Tone Studio for Katana MK2" are of a different format now too,
rather than a text parameter description followed with a numeric value,
the file structure is made of grouped system exclusive sequential data strings.

Which comes to Katana FxFloorBoard editor,
and will the current FW3 version work with the MK2 Katana?
simply put... NO.

will MK2 BTS *.tsl patch files open in FxFloorBoard?
NO.. not yet.

Will the MK1 FW3 FxFloorBoard editor get updated to load MK2 BTS patch files?
Yes.

Will there be a Katana MK2 FxFloorBoard coming?
Yes.

Yep, just ordered a new MKII Head, online of course, since all online purchases killed my favorite local hands-on store ::)
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Just picked up a k100 MKII head and I did a bit of tweaking to get more of a "warm tube" tone so I thought I should share for folks that have come to the conclusion that their katana sounds steril.. This amp can sound however you like thanks to the built in parametric EQ ;-) I Have a DSL40c with the bright cap mod so naturally I've started there.

To get very very close to a Marshall DSL40c classic crunch channel, gain around 3/4, tone dials at 12:00, tone shift here's what you do:

Set Katana to crunch, variation off for MKII (so it works for both versions), gain around 10:00, bass at 1:00, mids at 12:00, treble at 11:00, presence at 11:00, cab res set to deep, and the main key to this is global eq parametric eq set to -10db, Q of 0.5, with a center frequency of 1khz (1000hz). Set the second parametric to +3db, Q of 1, and center frequency of 80hz. You may also add 6db or so to your level correction in the parametric EQ just so your overall volume seems about the same after this large mid frequency cut.

I did this with audio analysing gear all on the same cab without moving my mic. The settings I have listed above are the katana head MKII response plot corrections required to match the dsl tone stack on crunch. Keep in mind that I used the same 2x12 greenback loaded cab for each amp. If you have a K50 for example then this setting will give you the sound of a DSL40c feeding your k50 speaker and cab. Something to note for Artist owners is you may want to try increasing the 1 kHz parametric up to -7 instead of -10 since the artist has a bit more high presence and low bass EQ'ed in than the rest of the katana line.

If someone has a chance try it out and tell me what you think. I've also done a clean fender sound as well just by by using general tone stack (delta) compensation and it does sound better than my DSL clean, but would like to run some sweeps on a real fender and get proper compensation values before I post.
Cheers!

AFAIK speaker simulation (aka IR) has already been applied by the time signal emerges from the line out.  This is just stacking one IR on top of another, no?

Bauerbyter

No if you switching to stereo expand there will be no preloaded IR in the Line Out Signal. But he is explaining it in the video

I like using the settings that make the Katana sound kind of like a Marshall DSL40c. Has anyone figured out settings to approximate the typical sound of a Dumble?

I realize that it is said that no two Dumbles sound a like, but there are some characteristics that people talk about like clear highs, and big lows that don't get flubby. It seems like my K50 sitting on the hard floor has both of those.
