Hello,
I work for Roland & BOSS and would like to announce the debut of the BOSS Tone Exchange. This is something that has been a long time in coming, but it's finally here. Here are a couple links for y'all...the first is a link to the homepage, and the second will take you to the SY-1000-specific page.

I am an SY-1000 owner myself, and have spent quite a bit of time programming alternate tunings into my SY. I have posted a couple live sets containing over 150 alternate tuning patches and I encourage you to download them into BOSS Tone Studio and check them out.

All all of us at BOSS hope you enjoy BOSS Tone Exchange, and encourage you to share some of your cool patches with the world of SY-1000 users.

Thanks, joeyarata!!

That Tone Exchange site looks really nice. It will be cool to see more content for SY-1000 as it develops. Also nice to see some content for the GP-10 as well.

I appreciate your posting that here.

I just signed in and started downloading. One immediate issue I see is that after downloading, the files have names like:

3df1764f-024b-4e92-8fbc-291416d83751.tsl

Where I was hoping to see a filename like: GP-10 Hawaiian Tunings.

Even if the download would create that gibberish filename but with a proper folder around it. It kind of makes the site quite difficult to use.

Is there a reason the filenames are robot language and unrelated to the "title"?

Thanks also for your work on all those tuning options.

I'd like to address the OP, Joey.

Your post was just a splash to introduce the Tone Exchange. But you kind of walked into a bees' nest of frustrated SY-1000 users.

You've obviously done some extensive work with tunings on your SY-1000. I'm sure you can't speak too freely about your experiences, in terms of pitch stability of the per-string pitch shifting. I'm sure you have an opinion.

Do you have some "in" with Boss R & D to report back to them with these various gripes? I had understood that Boss was/is aware, but that the firmware 1.07 was the result of their best and final effort on the matter.

This topic has been discussed thoroughly in other threads. You came on as a rep of Boss and got the earfull.

The over-arching question is valid. If the pitch-shifting and pitch-tracking of some earlier devices like the VG-99 was so much better that the GP-10 or SY-1000, could some elements of that processing be brought forward to the SY-1000?

At the risk of appearing to pile on the complaints against the SY1000's glitchyness in alt tunings, I've recently been using it in bass mode (a bass guitar/amp patch dropped down a 4th) and it's pretty noticeable on certain frets...to the point I'm wondering if I should just get a five-string bass.  I've adjusted my playing technique as much as I can, but it is a bummer when it suddenly jumps up an octave.

Say, mods - any chance you could retitle the thread or break out the two topics?

I see he did return briefly a few days ago, I do hope he does wish to return again,
if not to interact as a Roland/Boss rep, then as a personal user.

We look forward to hearing from Mr Arata, to enjoy some friendly interaction.  :)
