Couple of things I didn't get about GP10 and FS7

Since December I am using an FS7 with my GP10. I am happy about the expanded control capabilities.
I have followed the very useful post on the forum and I have setup the BTS Assignments as MOMENTARY while LATCH on the FS7.
The FS7 is always powered with the power splitter cable that it came with it.
While it works fine, I am left with uncovered ground here:

1. If I switch the Chorus ON with CTRL3 and then I change patch the CTRL3 light remains on even if CTRL3 is not assigned in the patch
2. Even if CTRL3 or 4 are assigned in the new patch the light status on FS7 does not reflect the real logical status of the assigned function: you can have the chorus OFF but the light remains ON.
3. So the lights in the FS7 resemble the status of the assigned function only if you press the pedal and reset (so that chorus is OFF and light is OFF after a patch change

Is this intended behavior?

Thanks

The lights on the FS-7 footswitch follow the state of the switch position, regardless of whether the FS-7 is plugged into the GP-10 or not.
There is no "smarts" from the GP-10 to tell the FS-7 when to switch off the pedal state.

So on the GP-10 if the external CTL Assigns are used/enabled the assign will assume the switch state of the FS-7, if the CTL function is not assigned, the GP-10 will ignore the FS-7 in that patch.

Thanks Colin.
Another oddity from Roland/Boss.
Is the same with VG99 and Sy1000?

Yes, same for everything.
It is no different from a mechanical 2 pole switch where one pole is dedicated to switching an LED on/off, and the other pole contacts open/close on the Boss unit..

Which Footswitch do I need? .. Latch or Unlatch?

GP-10 assign  [toggle] + FS-7  [Latch] = double latching, pedal requires 2 presses to do one function (effect on/off)

GP-10 assign  [toggle] + FS-7  [Moment] = press once to toggle effect on/off, pedal led only lights while held down

GP-10 assign  [moment] + FS-7  [moment] = effect only on while pedal held down, pedal led only on while held down

GP-10 assign  [moment] + FS-7  [Latch] = press once to toggle effect on/off, pedal led toggles with effect status

Thanks Steve, I am on the last one in the list. In any case FS7 is a nice well built pedal switch.
