Hi, all!
I'd like to double check the Ground wire on my updated DF.
Which one is it? What's the best way to check?

Thanks much! :)
Play on, my friend !!!

Which one?

String Ground?

Jack Ground?

CPU Ground?

Battery Ground?

. . . the future ain't what it used to be . . .

Hm... good question, Steve! :)
Whatever ground I should check that would be responsible for the noise... I have tried various amps and cables.
Tronical suggests checking the ground... but did not mention which one. Maybe I should check them all just in case?

FWIW - On my Dark Fire - (with the Dusk Tiger Firmware) i have lots of noise anytime the PEQ  / Chameleon tone is engaged.

I must use the "Stock Les Paul setting, as only then does it clean up and is finally playable when feeding a typical pedal FX board.

Otherwise if I have Chameleon Tones activated, its a hail storm of white noise anytime I feed a floor compressor pedal or distortion pedal.

Updating the Dark Fire Firmware to Disk Tiger firmware basically made my Dark Fire un-usable for me - because it activated the Parametric EQ (PEQ) circuit on all the Chameleon models in a bad way, and the Dusk Tiger  Chameleon Editor is very buggy for me to explore a fix.

I MUCH preferred my original Dark Fire firmware and the Dark Fire MCK user functions.  By contrast The Dusk Tiger firmware makes it so I get into big trouble with noise anytime I touch the MCK.

That sounds pretty bad, Steve....
I never updated to the Dusk Tiger and glad I didn't...
The noise on mine is not bad, I was just looking for the way to get rid of it completely.

I find for the lowest noise, just provide more signal = crank up your amp and play non-stop Joey Ramone riffs ;)

Ummmm ..... What you mean by updated DF ???

If you haven't gone to DuskTiger (which you said you haven't)
Do you mean from the 1st run DF (pre may 2009)

I can't believe that it's taken that long  :o
Q... What kind of advice can you give me ?   Tommy Emmanuel's reply ....

You move your hand Up and Down that long bit and the music comes out of that Big Black Box behind you !!

I guess I did not make myself clear...  Sorry!
What I meant was that the DF was RMA-ed back in fall of 2009 and the updated hardware went in.
No Dusk Tiger update on mine.

Just received my Dark Fire. I am in love again but I know it will not last long. While at it I will downgrade to last non Chameleon f/w. I too don't like the noise. I also never managed to get used to the control flow.

Great news MCK!!  Just for the record i think i was first to upgrade firmware and i don't have any noise issues at all!  I does not matter which setting i am in (i.e. any EQ) did Johnpaulgrim not offer a solution on the setting to get rid of the noise?
Gibson Dark Fire DF 2053 (currently very healthy, although the paint on the pickups is coming off!!!)
