Very expensive. You can get the same guitar for half the price if you don't mind some soldering & tinkering.

Start with a used eBay Fly ~ $1000 to $1400
Get Line 6 donor guitar and cannibalize for parts.
Buy other parts like Sustainiac and Ghost Hexpander
Mix it all up... Voila!

I reckon about $4K is all its going to cost you.

Finding room for all the electronics can be a bear. This guitar was actually delayed a couple of years because the guy (Axel Rudich) who laid out that design was killed in an accident and Parker couldn't find someone to replace him for quite awhile. The real pain is installing the Sustainiac due to the thin body of the Fly. There some info on the web about this, but if you are not good (real good) with a router, have a pro do it. You can find a lot on the Parker forums about these topics.

You can also save money by ordering a custom Fly with the features you want (but it will take awhile to get) -- I priced out one with all the AB features except the Sustainiac and it cam in under 4K. Unfortunately I never followed through with the order.

Thanks guys.  It looks like I am putting a GK-3 on my main guitar and going that route.   ;D

Been buying parts & bits off the net for a NiteFly. Original idea was to make it a headless bari based on the Parker body but I think I will just to ahead and build myself an AB Sig-spec guitar based on the NiteFly. I will use GK3 rather than the Ghost stuff though. I have done it before with the fretless so I know it will be ok + I also like the GK sound more than the Piezo sound... So far I'm projecting to be done at about $1.5K with most of that cost coming from the electronics.

Edit... Might go with the RackVax rather than the VariAx gutted planted into the guitar approach. Not decided yet. Need to see the RackVax... This summer

MCK:
you may want to wait on the new JT Variaxs to come out. It would be significantly more to transplant due to their steeper cost (cheapest being $1100) however it has alot of improvements, including a seperate knob for dedicated custom tunings as opposed to tying it to the stored guitar model. The dont think the rack vax's have the improved electronics, but I could be mistaken.

Yes. This is what I'm thinking of as well. Lets see the JT VariAxes roll out. Hopefully soon.

My stockists are saying August for the JT Variax in the UK, here's hoping.

I am about to pre-order a JTV-59, woo hoo.

Great news!!! Look forward to hearing about your impressions.

Well here's hoping it doesn't turn into another "great wait" a la yourock and the DF before it.

But for sure I will give my opinion once in my mucky mitts.

Summer NAMM soon so hopefully some updates then on the finer points of the new Variax range. Plus maybe a firmer release date.

Guitarist magazine is having a cover story review of the new JTV next month (which for those of you in the UK is probably this month.)
