Hi

So it all starts ok but sometimes just the D string goes quiet. Still sounds but volume down by maybe 70% so very noticeable. Other strings fine

If I leave it for a while unplugged it comes back ok, but will go again.

Any thoughts?

Do you think i need to replace?

Thanks Guys

Piter

There can be a multitude of reasons why this happens.
The GK cable is a good place to start the process of elimination.
DeOxit spray is recommended to clean the GK cable pins and GK socket pins.

What type of GK unit are you plugging into?
If it is an old unit like the GR1, GR-30, GR-33,
has the internal memory battery been replaced ?

Tried a different GK cable ?
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

What hardware are you using, and what brand (standard of) cable ??

Have you / Can you try your guitar with another synth?    ...or another guitar with your synth?

OK thanks for the info.

Pickups - GK-2 (working fine on both units) Internal Gk3 (built in pickup) that is showing the problem

Units - I have a GP-10 main unit and a GR-30 (not used much)

The fault is displayed on both units only with the internal pickup. I have 3 13pin cables and again its just the one pickup.

Thanks Peter looks good

I did a bit more testing

I use  the GP10 and this blends the real pickups and the HEX ones on a lot of the patches. I have found that the the hex pickup is always quiet on the D and and it is only on the HEX only patches that the D goes quiet.

I think that the pickup may be shot

Also, check and clean (if you are confident of your skills) the connections from the pickup to the mainboard, and those from the mainboard to the 13-pin jack.

Assuming you are using the Roland 13-pin jack that came with the Internal Kit, also check and clean the connections at the JACK end of the cabling that goes from the mainboard to the jack..

If it is always quiet on the D string, then maybe there is more space between the string and the pickup than the other strings.  Increase the sensitivity for the D string.

The distance thing is a good idea, I will try that.

The sensitivity thing is less appealing, i would rather replace as i have multiple GK's

Thanks

I have 3 cables that came with the gear, I have two BOSS units, and 2 GK pickups on different guitars. By a process of elimination  its the pickup that exhibits the issue.

Thanks Mate :-)

That's a good call, I am fairly good with that stuff so i will get my screwdriver out today. I may even try swapping the pickup with my other GK see if the issue moves with the swap.

OK Fixed thanks to @gumbo !!!!!

:) ;D >:(

So I disconnected, cleaned, and then reseated the pickup connector to the main board and the thing is now perfect!!

Thanks guys one happy guy and a friendly and helpful forum.

Now to get back to playing
