Has anyone used an Expressionator with a SY-300? (or any Boss pedals)

https://missionengineering.com/shop-2/products/expression/multi-use-exp/expressionator/

It looks like a useful gadget but I would like to know if it actually works with Roland gear.

It is a 20K ohm device. As stated in many other threads, EV-5 is a 10K ohm device.

Mission Engineering has state it should work but no guarantees.

Will not work with most Roland /Boss gear - as they mandate a 10K ohm Linear Expression pedal  - and most lack ability to recalibrate for any other type

QuoteOutput 20K Ohm linear tip to wiper expression or +5V CV switch selectable
Line 6 devices require the Line 6 adapter

Requires an external power supply (not included)
9VDC 2.1mm center pin negative. Minimum 150mA recommended.

Width 4.4″
Depth 2.5″
Height 1.12″

Thanks

Just to bump this thread, I found this:

http://expressionpedals.com/matching-pedal-brand-to-effect-brand

note footnote 5 at bottom of page.
"There are many Boss® pedals so it is difficult to try all of them. 10k ohm is the recommendation and will work with all Boss pedals.
However, up to 100K ohm for example works correctly with the PS-5 Harmoniser, but does not with the PS-3 Phase shifter, Up to 50k will probably work for all Boss® pedals"

I don't know if I believe them but it makes me want to attach a 20k ohm pot to a trs cable and test it out.

So the next question:
Could I harm the SY-300 testing such an expression device?

No harm - it just will not work correctly

Originally I had planned to just banana clip a 20k pot to a TRS cable for the test.

Obtaining a one 20k pot is darn near impossible. You can buy twenty, but you can't buy one.

With shipping and minimum charge fees fees it didn't seem possible to do for under $30.00.

So. instead I bought a 25k micro expression pedal from Saturn works.

The pedal works on a SY-300. I also tested it on an MD-500 and a Harmonizer PS-6.

Seems to work on all 3.

I may try the expressionator. I'll report on what happens.

I got the Expressionator and tested it with MD-500, PS-6, and SY -300. It works. When the expression curve is set to audio it is easier to control effects. I believe the SY-300 and MD-500 allows that config internally but it is nice to have it for the PS-6.

Next is to config the SY-300 to control MD-500 and DD-500 via midi and use the expressionator on the SY-300, PS-6 and RV-6.

If I come up with some cool space noises I'll try to post.
