Hey first time poster...long time lurker..  I recently acquired a G707, GR300, GM70, US2, FC100, and some cables...after wanting a G707 for about 18 years or so...  Everything seems more or less in order, but one thing that I am interested in is getting a 13 pin output also.  I understand there are a handful of Roland BC13 (and Wayne Jones) boxes out there, and similar, though they are rare and/or pretty expensive.

I have seen someone selling GM70s that have been modified to add this function, since I have a GM70 already I thought this might be the way to go?

Many perform a DIY solution we have a few examples here on our Forum if you search

It's relatively straightforward but you have to have some prior electronic experience and know how to solder and build things it's not a first-time project

there are third-party Solutions available today but due to the Limited numbers they are a bit costly

Heres one from France

Thanks I've seen this gadget.

No disrespect intended, but the search function of this forum does not seem user friendly.  If I type in for example, "24 pin to 13 pin" the results are very garbled and not very helpful.  If I type in "GM70 13 pin" or "GM70 mod" I do not find any relevant results.

Unfortunately the first two threads you point to reference discontinued products.

I'm equipped to solder, not my first project...was hoping to DIY the GM70 to have this function built-in as I have seen for sale.

Wayne has schematic

Easiest way is  to just put a GK 3 external hex pickup on guitar and run 13 Pin cable and a 24 pin cable inside car flex tubing.

That way you will have full control over the 24 pin gear and the 13 pin gear.

Howcome

The G series guitars already have a GK2-like circuit inside, so hooking up an extra GK2 is a bit to much, imho.
There is that thing called the roland BC-13 but that is very (very) hard to find. Fortunately, the schematic isn't that difficult, so I built one inside my G505. Have a look at http://gtrworks.nl/roland-g-505-13pin-connector/ to get the idea what I mean.

Cheers,
Patrick.

Thank you for sharing the details!!

So looking at available options...besides "collectability"  Is there any reason one would not want to:

1. Convert G707 24 pin output to a DB25.

2. Convert GR300 24pin input to db25.

3. Convert GM70 24pin input to db25.

4. Build BC13 circuit into GM70 adding a 13 pin output.

Since I already have the above gadgets, and I do have 24 pin cords but if I'm gonna add a 13 pin out to the GM70 already it seems like I might as well do some other modifications while I'm in there and sell off my 24 pin cords.

Only you can answer which path you with to pursue

To accomplish any one of those  - we have members exhibiting prior examples of each ( use advanced search ) ( or Google)

Resale value will be higher for "Stock un-modified gear.

Looking for technical disadvantages that I could not find in research... or "gotchas" as they say...any reasons to reconsider besides philosophical or resale?

I'd like to be able to use the stock 505 hex pickup and run both the 24 pinout and a 13 pinout from the guitar.

But since I don't have the technical skills or knowledge do that I just slap on an extra gk3 and problem solved in 5 minutes or so.

It would be nice if I could tap the existing circuit in the 505 and feed either a gk3 internal kit or a BC13 circuit.

So taking the db25 idea further, has anyone built a US2 equivalent box with db25s, or modified a regular parallel port switcher box?  I have a US2 already but would seem silly to convert that to db25 if an old switch box would work...   :P
