I recently upgraded all my BTS installations  to the latest revision.

But I encountered errors installing Boss Tone Studio for SY-300, after I had already installed Boss Tone Studio for GP-10,

Below is a typical error pop up message.

I figured I should try a clean start, used Windows Control panel to uninstall all my prior Boss Tone Studios apps ( ME-80, GT-100, GP-10, Katana)
and i uninstalled Adobe AIR

But I still had problems  - launching the Boss Tone Studio for SY-300, Installer would just default to performing no action and even after waiting 15 minutes, still nothing  - no Adobe AIR pop up message, nothing.

Here is how I solved it on my Windows 7 64 PRO machine ( Dell Optiplex 980)

I downloaded and installed CC Cleaner (free)
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
http://www.howtogeek.com/113382/how-to-use-ccleaner-like-a-pro-9-tips-tricks/

and used CC Cleaner to clean  / repair my Windows Registry (IMPORTANT - Allow CC Cleaner to make a backup copy of your Registry  - before it performs the "Registry Clean" operation ! )

next I downloaded the latest version of Adobe AIR and installed it

https://get.adobe.com/air/

Then I proceeded to re-download the latest versions of Boss Tone Studio for each of my products   ( ME-80, GT-100, SY-300, GP-10, Katana)

This time all installations went smoothly and now I'm up to date with all my versions of Boss Tone Studio

QuoteIMPORTANT UPDATE  in the patch save bug in GP-10 BTS version 1.1.0 -

Trying to expand the researching, today I noticed something that could be relevant for the historical records of this annoying bug.

I run BOSS TONE STUDIO 1.1.0 in the new OFF LINE mode which allows to use it in standalone without GP-10 connected to USB. In this "unplugged" mode I could verify that transferring of patches from the Edit Buffer to the BTS LIBRARIAN is working fine and free of errors, regardless of the preset number or ten row used. Also, the  transferring of various patches (about thirty) from the original GP-10 patch list by default in the OFF LINE mode was successful, no errors at all. I carried out the checking of patches integrity saved in LIBRARIAN LiveSets in OFF LINE mode, now with the GP-10 connected via USB in the normal online mode.
I wonder if some of you can check and confirm this on your own system.
If this is true, it could be concluded that the bug occurs only as an communication malfunction between software (BTS) and hardware (GP-10), not by the program itself (in the OFF LINE standalone mode).

If you do have hurdles with installing Boss Tone Studio ( I now use 7 flavors of it now) follow the step described in this thread:

Having just purchased a GP-10 from eBay I thought I would download Boss Tone Studio, but the download link isn't there and the message says -

"Currently it is not capable to install the application for Windows to some PC environments.
We are stopping to provide it.
Thank you for your kind cooperation and understanding in advance."

Not sure if this is just a temporary suspension, and maybe it will come back with a trouble free install.  Any comments?

Got an SY300 and so far having fun with the tones. Go to install the BTS and sure enough I get the dreaded error Elantric refers to. Had no luck on an older Win 7 machine so grabbed a Win 7 I only just ran up the other day. No programs on it bar Norton and Chrome/IE blah blah.

Installed Adobe Air and attempted BTS for Sy300. Shortly thereafter the words F you Boss rang around the neighbourhood.

I'll give CC Cleaner a go. Otherwise is it at all possible Boss has picked up on the angst here at VG HQ and thought about releasing an app that simply works?

QuoteHackers slipped malware into popular PC software CCleaner

A popular PC-cleaning software used by over 130 million people put users at risk after hackers were able to insert malware into legitimate downloads. Piriform's CCleaner, owned by antivirus provider Avast, was found to be hosting a "contained a multi-stage malware payload" that could install ransomware or keyloggers and further infect target computers on command.

According to Avast, around 2.27 million people ran the affected software, which was delivered via a hacked server. The impact is damaging, but considering that the application has amassed over 2 billion downloads and adds around 5 million new users each month, it could have been significantly worse. The company said it has already forced updates of the affected version and in its own words was "able to disarm the threat before it was able to do any harm."

Starting life as a "crap cleaner," CCleaner has earned a reputation for its ability to remove rogue programs and clear things like tracking cookies on Windows PCs. Users trust the brand, which makes it a prime target for attackers. "By exploiting the trust relationship between software vendors and the users of their software, attackers can benefit from users' inherent trust in the files and web servers used to distribute updates," said Cisco Talos researchers, who discovered the threat, in a blog post.

The attack vector isn't a new one, but it's become a lot more prevalent in recent months. The Petya ransomware was distributed via a similar method and hackers also modified the Mac Bittorrent app Transmission on official servers to compromise users' computers.

In the past, attackers would create fake alternatives of popular applications and trick people into downloading them. The trend now, however, is to attack the download source directly and gain access to legitimate servers. Once they are in, it's a case of loading the trusted software with a nefarious payload, with the end-user being none the wiser.

"This is a prime example of the extent that attackers are willing to go through in their attempt to distribute malware to organizations and individuals around the world," Cisco Talos warns. "Attackers have shown that they are willing to leverage this trust to distribute malware while remaining undetected."
