OK, this may be a silly question but...
I just got a new RC-300 and I checked the firmware version -
the window says "VER 1.10   REV 1840   VVER 1.01"
I thought the newest fw version was 1.05. What am I missing? Is there a version 1.10?
I Googled it and came up with no real answers. Although everything is working fine, I'm just curious. ???

Thanks in advance,
Tek

1.10?  Interesting.  I wonder if the Roland Japan site has that?  The last update was April of 2013 that I can see.  When did you buy your RC-300 and did you buy it new?

Looking at Roland Japan site:
http://www.roland.co.jp/support/article/?q=downloads&p=RC-300

1.05 is the last version according to the website.

1.10 - mysterious.

I purchased the unit new about a week and a half ago from Sweetwater (got a nice Gearfest price too ;D). From everything that I read, when you check the version, the firmware number will be on the left. My display reads, from left to right "VER 1.10   REV 1840   VVER 1.01". Exactly as written. I just thought it was funny that there was no info out there about a version 1.10.

With any luck Roland will post a download for RC300 FW1.10 soon.

Suggest check here once a week

Understand that most Roland Product Support people are prepping for the Summer NAMM show in Nashville July 19- its possible Roland might make an announcement regarding RC-300 FW 1.10 at Summer NAMM

Contact Sweetwater as they have a good rapport with Roland Product Specialists - and maybe they can reveal the facts  / updates that RC-300 FW1.10 addresses

Interesting.

Previous updates were 1.02, 1.03 and 1.05.  1.10 implies multiple fixes or additions.  :)

Update: My own unit says:

Ver      Rev      Uver
1.05    1837    1.01

So 1.10 / 1840 / 1.01 definetely implies further work.  Interesting.

I wonder what differences are in your version versus mine?

I've emailed Boss USA on their facebook page and will let you know what I hear from them (if anything).

Not sure what the differences/ fixes are on the newer FW, but I'd be interested to know.
Thanks Aliensporebomb

They responded.  As expected, nobody seems to know, only Roland Japan:

Thanks for contacting us about this. Usually product revisions such as this eventually become available as free downloads. We know of no ETA for this to happen right now but if does it will be announced on our website and our Facebook page.

I know right?!
Been hoping this will fix my damn (once every six hours odd) freezing issues, but still nothing!

Update:

After forwarding the pictures to my Roland rep, all I was able to find out is that it is "coming soon". He's not aware of what the firmware update will do. Sorry I do not have more information for you!

Major thanks for the update man! I was starting to wonder if this was a crazy glitch or nasty little photoshop prank...

Damn having hope. Nothing crueller than hope...

aliensporebomb

It's interesting: shipping units have the update but they're dragging their feet on releasing it on the website.  You have to wonder what the update does and maybe it is still being tested to make sure it doesn't brick existing units.

Just checking back in... My unit is working fine. I'm starting to get a little more comfortable with it and learning to use it a little more effectively. It's actually pretty simple, compared to months of digging through my GR-55.

Wish I could tell you what this new FW version is doing, but...

Also, no bricks here ;D...

(and Photoshop - that would be too cruel)

Syph

aliensporebomb- I have been wondering about that as well. I have been wondering how much change a firmware update could bring, but I keep coming back to bug fixes. There is other options like relabelling things like tempo/loop sync to make it less confusing, or (VERY unlikely) adding new features (FX, drum machine beats/sounds, expanding assignments, USB sound card upgrades). The work they did on the GT100 v2 was pretty cool and it would be neat to see something like that happen again, but I am not holding my breath! Hell, of late I have even been wondering if they would release a new flagship floor unit to match the RC505....

Tek- Thanks for bringing this update to our attention, would have had no idea it was even in the pipeline if it wasn't for you!

I can think of a couple of potential issues that merit fixing or improving:

(1) this woman reported a problem over two years ago - I wonder if this still exists?  I'd need to set my RC300 up exactly the same as hers.  Her video has over 4000 views:

(2) the octave divider effect is pretty marginal - even my old Boss OC-2 was light years better.  Maybe they could improve it with existing hardware.  The following quote comes from a response to the video in problem one where someone mentions it:

Quote
@AxelMontaner Here is the Boss email response to the guitar>bass FX issue: "We have confirmed that our RC-300 in product support also produces intermittent results when using the Guitar-Bass effect. We have submitted this info to Boss Japan so that they can research it further."

I'm sure there are other things that could be added/improved.  The fact that we're going from version 1.05 to v1.10 when usual updates are .1 increments implies more than one "fix" or correction.

Still no 1.10.  This is worse than waiting for a VG-99 update that will never come.  It's waiting for an update that's out there in recently manufactured units but not available to those with existing units.
