Title: GI-10 and GK pickup volume control
Post by: ficelles on October 01, 2022, 11:28:44 AM
GI-10 and GK pickup volume control - does anyone know how to make them work together or how to configure the target synth to recognise the GK volume control? The target synth is the Moog Animoog software synth on an iPad.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, not really a midi person :)

I haven't ever used a GI-10 -- but on the GI-20 you assign a CC number to each input (GK Vol, S1/S2, external switches, etc.) via the assign menu on the front panel so I assume it would be a similar principle. Is there a manual for the GI-10 available that specifies how to do it?

Once a CC number is set (I'd invariably use CC#7 or 11 for volume control) you need to assign the same CC to volume within the Animoog app. There is a MIDI assign/or/learn function accessible via the settings menu in the app.

Some softsynths respond to CC#7 (Volume) or CC#11 (Expression) by default but the original Animoog is not one of those. The more recent Animoog Z app does however respond to CC#7 by default.

I don't think you can set the range of control to anything other than 0-127 so watch out for extreme volume spikes.
