Katana Good value for electric guitars

Just OK for acoustic guitars

But is poor choice for Synths -
I do prefer my Katana vs my Quilter for Acoustic guitars

For synths look at a pair of QSC CP8

Why is there a Brown Channel on Katana ?
It simulates Eddie Van Halens Tone

A Marshall 50 watt head fed 85VAC from a Variac variable AC transformer  The Marshall 50 when fed low voltages had more sag and lower decibels ( I saw this 1st hand when they were house band in LA at  Gazarri' s back in 1976)  when the Variac is  on 85 VAC it simulated a "Brown Out"low voltage  condition from the local  AC Mains Utility power

Quote from: FiestaRed869, post: 29600616, member: 113624I'm very behind on midi or how to even use most of it. So if I have the GAFC and save my favorite Amps ,
can I have another midi to control the effects on and off?

I assume That would be like the mustang where you create an amp with the effects off, then the midi turns them on and off?

Only if you have the Katana Head or Katana Artist ( only models with MIDI IN jack

or

Correct

^ Original GA-FC was for the Roland 2010 GA-212 amps

I just bought a Katana 100 MKII Head. So far, I like it.

I already had a FS-6 Dual Foot Switch which the manual says I can use, but I can't tell what it's doing.

Any clues what it can be used for?

TIA,
JohnS

Usually for changing channels,
making sure you are using a stereo/TRS type jack cable into the Pedal/EXP port on the back of the Katana.
Set the footswitches to operate "momentarily", and be 'normally closed",
 one will alternate Banks A/B
and the other footswitch will alternate channel 1 and 2 (but not 3 & 4) so the two foot switches can select 4 channels.

That's what I thought it said in the manual, but it wasn't working for me. Turns out I had it plugged into the GA-FC input. Works fine in the one next to it. Duh :)

I was hoping it would cycle back to the "Panel" setting, but it doesn't seem to. Guess I'd have to invest in the GA-FC EX to get the most out of switching capabilities.

Thanks very much for the assistance!

Would anyone know where to get replacement parts for a boss katana 50? My amp repair tech said mine needs a new main ic. Only writing or markings on the part I'm talking about says "Roland ESC2 51000". Hope you could help me. Thanks.

Contact an official Roland/Boss Repair Center. They tend to replace entire PC Boards, and not replace individual ICs
https://www.boss.info/us/support/
In general in USA , they do not sell individual parts to customers. Its a surface mount Ball Grid Array ( BGA) IC, and requires special skills and tools to replace.

Most buy a 2nd used Katana , as out of warranty repairs are cost prohibitive. Typical independent guitar amp repairmen often refuse to work on Katana Amps due their modern computer SMD construction

With that sort of scale of repair, you are talking about a cost of more than just buying a new Katana.
That repair is the equivalent of replacing a soldered 200 pin CPU chip in a computer, requiring specialist surface mount component equipment,
that I doubt a guitar repair tech would have.
