Hey there,
So I've just got into looping and purchased an RC-30 and I've been having fun with it.
However, I've found it fairly limiting and I'm wondering whether i'm wrong in saying that with a USB interface, Ableton live and a foot controller, I can do everything the RC-30 is doing an more?

Am I missing something or is this the case? In which case, I may return it and go the way of Ableton. I just need to learn it!

Presumably, it's rock solid and simplistic which is why people use it.

Can anyone help?
James.

Use what works for you

Myself , I've never been a fan of Roland Loopers , I find they have a convoluted user interface, and / or a gap of silence at restart of each loop - or they are too big (RC-300) for my available floor real estate at gigs.

Easiest looper for me is Akai Headrush II

Then Boomerang II

There is more power with Ableton running on a MacMini

or

Ed Sheeran's "Chewie Monsta" custom looper

I've been using the RC-300 and it is pretty much what I was hoping for - no loop gaps, can be set to do a Frippertronic style of looping, can save loops in studio quality from a live show for later transfer to a computer for release and allows multiple loops with undo.

However, it IS big - like a battleship big and it's made of metal so it's heavy.  With my RC-300 and FC-300 and Lexicon footswitch as well as my Strymon BigSky at gigs I feel like I'm controlling the starship enterprise (and lifting it after the gig).

I've thought about trying a Pigtronix Infinity to see if that is a bit more manageable.  When I got my Roland RC-300 one of my audio interfaces died so I've also been using the RC-300 as an audio interface and it works well for that in fact at higher audio bitwidth and rate than advertised.

For software looping I've been playing with Mobius but my favorite software looper is Expert Sleeper's Augustus Loop.

Cool. I've returned my RC-30 and am now debating whether to go for a Pigatronix or an RC-300.

RC-300 ; pros are that it has a third track ; cons are that it is massive.
INFINITY: pros are that it's smaller, takes an external foot pedal; cons are that it has only two tracks and the marketing says it's geared towards guitarists; no xlr.

Any thoughts on this?
