VG99 guitar out mod for stereo input

I don't know if anybody has asked this before but I cannot find any info in the forum. Would it be possible to mod the guitar out of the vg99 to convert it into a second input? I don't have an use for that guitar out jack, and I'd like to connect my gr55 and make use of the vast superior effects processor of the vg99 without losing (if possible) the stereo image of the gr55.

If somebody has been able to perform this mod, I'd really like to know.

Thanks for the info, admsustainiac, but it's not exactly what I'm trying to achieve. And I don't use stompboxes anymore, so I don't see the advantage of using a FX loop instead of the guitar in to process the signal of a gr55.

It is not possible to do this mod. Inside the VG-99 everything is digital. To have a second working input, you need an extra digital analog convertor, redesign the hardware and rewrite the firmware to support the extra input. I also wished the VG99 had more inputs. But they are not there.

The only option is to route audio via usb using Loopback or soundflower on a Mac. I have thought of this, but never tried it. I am afraid latency will be too much. But it is worth an experiment.

I had the same problem with the boss sy-300. I wanted stereo input so the solution was to purchase two units.

However I found that running two stereo outs from both units and mixing them together seems to mess with the audio quality result.

So each boss sy-300 uses it's  mono audio out, so each sy-300 has its own audio Channel.

Thanks for the suggestion, Sixeight, but I plan to use this configuration live, and I don't like the idea of carrying a laptop for that purpose. So I guess my only option is using stereo fx to spread the mono signal fed through the guitar input.

That's an expensive workaround, Chrish!

My guess is that it might be possible to use a stereo to 13pin cable hack and maybe get a stereo signal into VG99 that way.
I don't know if its worth the risk of damaging the VG99 though.

all made possible through the generous work of Elantic setting up those Forum group buy programs.
