Ive tried a lot of these "tips" on improving windows OS's for audio. None of them did much if anything to measureably improve my audio performance and on more than one occasion, I had to do an image restore as the tweaks screwed my machine up.
Hope this will work better. In my experience the best thing that improved my computers performance was to get a much faster computer.
My last main machine was a quad core 2.4. I bought a used HP Z series dual quad work station with 24 gigs of ram for less than the 2.4 cost new and it came with two 15,000 rpm drives. I can set the audio card buffer down to 64 and it dosent glitch ( depending on how many VIs and plugs are being used ) which allows me to record vocals with FX. The old quad 2.4 is now a server that I use with FX Teleport.
