Donation happily sent - this forum is great.
If there was a PayPal form for that took credit/debit like gumtown links to in the Floorboard HELP menu I could, but otherwise PayPal has me locked out of my account and I don't plan on fighting any more with them to reopen it.

bump...
Thanks for keeping it up, this is the best guitar site on the .net
And if You don't mind Me saying so...
I urge all future supporters,
If you don't have Your own PayPal account, get one setup, it's easy.
and send some loose change to digitar55(at)yahoo(dot)com (site admin) via Your PayPal account to help keep the wheels oiled and turning on this awesum site.
a bit of busking loose change,
that next packet of cigarettes or box of donuts you don't need,
spare change from the bottom of the washing machine,
the donation you forgot in the Sunday service plate.
If You are feeling charitable, have a spare bit of dosh, send it to digitar55 and support this site !!
Guilty as charged I am, putting down the doughnut and clicking send.
Ahhhh. That feels a bit better now:)
And it took less than a minute to do, too.
Thanks for the ping. Been meaning to do that for a while now.
Hi Elantric,
This is definitely the best site there is. The info available here is priceless.
Thanks to you and the other mods for doing such a great job!
I prefer not to use PayPal as well. Would you please send me the alternative donation info?
Thanks,

Just sent a few bucks, and plan on sending my "sofa money" from time to time. I'll be sending some money to gumtown to support the Floorboard editor as well. Super piece of code.
I'm new to the site and will follow up with a formal introduction later. But just had to send a few bucks ASAP when I saw this thread. Gotta keep the lights on for this fantastic and VERY well organized resource.
THANK YOU!
We are 100% volunteers with no corporate backing and these donations help keep the lights on and our Forums active.
Sent a few bucks....keep up the good work.
I can not over state my gratitude and appreciation for the wealth of information made available here, not to mention the wonderful people that make this such an awesome community!
Thank you to all involved for making this such a kick ass place to hang out!
Thanks - Tell your Friends.
I tell anyone who will listen!! ;D
Being a street performer for living I get asked a lot of questions about my gear and I just refer people here. Frankly, it's the best community/resource I have found!
My only regret is I have so few dollars to send....
Small donation sent + big thanks for your hard work guys

Just want to say thank you to Elantric and all who meaningfully contribute to this forum. VGuitar has been very helpful in getting me up and running on stage with my Roland GR-55. So here's a contribution to a prosperous (in all ways) New Year for 2015. I look forward to what unfolds for all things musical that have strings. ;D. Paypal on the way. Just sent it!!!!

I am truly obliged to Elantric, gumtown, et al.; $20.00 Cdn. coming your way. This site does tend to encourage the purchase of high-tech music toys but I try and balance my GAS with donations to worthy causes such as:
Population Institute Canada http://www.populationinstitutecanada.ca/ (http://www.populationinstitutecanada.ca/)
Pacific Wild http://pacificwild.org/site/take_action/wolf-action.html (http://pacificwild.org/site/take_action/wolf-action.html)

because without clean air, clean land, clean water, and a healthy diverse biosphere, mankind will not survive.
More love coming your way via PP. Thanks Elantric and everyone else that makes this such a great forum.

Hey guys, Elantric, admins...
Have any of you heard of Flattr, https://flattr.com/. I stumbled upon their site and thought of VGuitar forums. With the huge knowledge base this forum offers and the invaluable help and advice you give, donations should be pouring in ;D. Elantric, this forum must be almost like a second job for you, timewise... Flattr would be an easy way to accept "microdonations". I thought it was a pretty interesting concept that may bring in some well deserved donations. I don't know how much it costs or what percentage they keep. Just thought it was worth a mention.
Thanks for all your hard work!

Thank for sharing!

Elantric, I just sent a little support to the forum via PayPal, to help keep the electrons flowing. Btw, you asked me in another reply post, about what wireless hub I am using to transmit midi using my iPad's and the MidiBridge app. I don't have that info in front of me now but I will reply to that post with the info and a picture of the rig in a day or two (on the road right now).
Once again a big thank you for all you and the others do here on Vguitarforum
Thanks for supporting VGuitarforums

As much as you can give, body parts accepted too. ;D
I guess the amount depends on the socio-economic climate of your region/situation.
If everyone gives a little, then the combined sum may just be enough to pay for this site's hosting fees,
and maybe keep the Admin's coffee pot hot during those long late nights of site moderating.

^^ Agreed - i truly appreciate all those who contribute to the expenses to run this site and allow creative ideas for guitarists to thrive.
Despite the many who have contributed, I still must add more $$ out of my own pocket to pay the annual site hosting costs.
I do want to thank ShawnB, who contributes lots of effort behind the scenes year after year to maintain the SMF Code this site runs on.
We remain 100% user supported , community driven, and volunteer managed.

Donated...thanks for the forum. Very helpful, happy that it is so current.
QuoteMight be an idea to publish running cost
It averages around $250 / per year - we pay for the storage hosting of all the attachments files ( photos, patches, pdfs , zip, etc) - as alternate providers are not as stable ( Photobucket, Snapagogo) and many folks who were very active a few years ago, have moved on and deleted their Drop Box/ Google Drive links after 18 months ( many of the Raspberry Pi files are long gone
and we know Yahoo VG-8 Group (where many of us started) is now dead and deleted
and on the other hand, many new users are ignorant that VGuitarForums exists, - using specific Facebook Groups for all their VGuitar patch sharing needs instead
Quote from: philjynx on December 18, 2019, 12:43:44 PM
250 sounds about right, a bit shameful that the donations are insufficient though. As I'm sure you well know, wikepedia's requests for donations are largely ignored.
Indeed, external links are volatile and fragile.
Also, I hope at least one of the team regularly uses a site mirroring tool to hold a local copy of this site. You never know when a business will keel over.
I break even with the Hosting expenses ( thanks to ALL who donate $) - ShawnB is our behind the scenes site admin / SMF Guru and we would have been gone years ago without his immense energy and talents
Just sent my donation! Thanks for maintaining a valuable resource, Steve, and Happy Holidays to you and everyone at VGF.

Considering all the information present here, all the time Steve spends checking new gear (and even acquiring and testing them), all the work that keeping one such forum running entails, digging relevant information for other users on a daily basis (even if he has dug that same info many times before), and generally providing excellent advice -- including in health-related issues, DIY, and others, I send that with a smile on my face. :D

I'm using E. Piano, Saxes, vibes, oboe, and a whole lot more. But I coukdn't have setup my guitars, the GR to play live with these patches I've modified.
I wondered how I could support this site...and found it here....donation on its way!

...just a shame that all the usual names appear when the chips are down, and a whole lot of others seem to think it's a free service to guitarist-kind... ...sigh
I sometimes think that a membership fee (of only (say) $5/year) in order to be able to view more than just the thread title, wouldn't turn out to be a better and more equitable way of raising sufficient funds to keep the lights on, and place a whole lot less stress on those who are undertaking the unending work to keep this place the 'Best-on-the-Net'....
Sorry, gotta go...there are some kids on my lawn....
Sold my kid, so add another $25 to the kitty. Thanks steve and all the other moderators for running and maintaining a stellar forum. Off to figure out what to do with the extra space now. ;)
